I just got this from the last ADV sale from TSRI.
This is a pretty average anime not to mention stereotypical. There are 3 members of the Mobile Shinsengumi, who are the daughters of members of the original Shinsengumi. The two hot-heads, Yuko Kondo and Toshi Hijkata don't particularly like each other and the youngest is Kaoru Okita and she may be the most dangerous of all, especially when it comes to her food and her boobs.
The head of the Group is driven to occasional rages due to the girls' destructive tendencies and or eating and drinking binges. There is two assistants to the group and they may actually be smarter than the girls. There is also the science geek and the ubiquitous friendly monster.
While there is the obvious discrepancy of the high-tech sports cars in the Meiji era, that can be overlooked. But the armor designs for the girls seem clunky and clumsy after seeing the cars that they drive. There is also a bit of a tribute to Sakura Taisen, were the girls slide down a tunnel to the vehicles (but they don't change clothes.).
Their enemy is the Tsubame Group led by a princess in a patched dress, Miki Saotome. And her two henchmen (who really don't do anything except talk) the pretty-boy knight, Ukon Tanaka and the idiot with a Chinese cabbage obsession, Sakon Suzuki. I don't really understand why the Tsubame group was doing what they were doing other than they didn't like the Westernization of Japan.
BTW - There is also something that Zac would be depressed and traumatized about, not to mention the outrage from the ASPCA: Kitten are forced to run on treadmill to launch the vehicles that the Moble Shinsengumi drive!
I wasn't particularly impressed by this OVA. I'm hoping that the TV series will be better.
