I discovered the Pillows through FLCL, as I'm sure most people did, but now I'm growing more and more obsessed with them. It's been especially bad since I picked up a copy of their new album "My Foot," which is, quite simply, one of the most amazing rock records I own (and I own a LOT of rock records).
I own everything Geneon has seen fit to release on this side of the Pacific (the FLCL soundtracks, "Penalty Life", and "My Foot"), but is there any way to track down more of the band's albums without paying through the nose at import prices? Every time I see import-only Pillows albums at cons, they're at minimum $40, and Amazon prices are about the same. Also, I see the band has a live DVD of their American tour coming out in Japan in February. Anyone heard news of it coming out in the US? |

I think import's the only good way to go, unless if you have a friend in Asia that can buy it and send it to you. Not that I'm exceptionally proud of it, but I managed to grab and listen to their entire discography online. My advice is get only the stuff 1998 and after (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pillows#Discography). Everything before's kinda bland and uninteresting IMHO. |

I'll steer clear of any comments regarding my mp3 collection, but My Foot is definitely a great CD. I heard a lot of fans complaining that the band lost their touch recently, but the album is one of my favorites. I almost lost it when I heard "The Third Eye" for the first time, and that video is pretty cool too. "Degeneration" is just obnoxious, though.
Did anyone see them during their 2006 US tour? I would've killed to go to the New York show, but none of my friends would endure the road trip for a Japanese band they've never heard of. Losers... Any idea how to get Pillows merchandise aside from their Japanese online shop? Ebay? |

They just left King Records and signed onto Avex. From what people have been saying they been losing some sort of creative freedom on King Records. I'm glad 'cause Avex does a great job with promoting their artists. Although they do thend to go a bit crazy with CD singles. Eh, as I said in another board: more cool b-sides.

If you can't find any albums, check out Google video for a few of their promotional videos.

The FLCL soundtrack did, but they've put out albums since then. Their most recent one ("My Foot") came out in Japan last year, and in the US last January.
