Well it's not music from anime, but Cornelius is Japanese.
Anyway Cornelius is doing a show next week in Melbourne (where I live), and he got a pretty good write up in the paper. His 'Point' album also got really high scores on metacritic (81 and 9.6 from fans).
So does anyone here listen to Cornelius? Or better yet has anyone seen him live? I'm tempted to go, but it would mean having to cancel a whole lot else. Since I know basically nothing about the guy, would anyone like to give their impression?
P.S. in the off chance that anyone from Melbourne reads this... he is playing at the Hi-Fi bar, Dec 7 (Thurs).
[EDIT: Not semi OT, but completely OT. In any case, I'll still allow it. -TK]

I have "69/96" and their "Holidays in the Sun" EP. Haven't had a chance to listen to them yet; but from what I heard I should be pretty happy.

I know of him. Haven't heard anything by him, but I heard a remix of Pink Spider (hide) by Cornelius. Interesting song, a lot of it had sound effects of a lady having sex.
8 more to 3000!

I have Fantasma and Point, both of which I bought for the sake of a single track on each album ("Star Fruits Surf Rider" on Fantasma, and "Brazil" on Point). Never seen him live. They're pretty interesting albums, thought I wouldn't call them great; they're rather uneven, eclectic collections of sample driven beats blended with guitars and ambient textures. "Drop" and "Nowhere" are also good tracks on Point.

posting about a Japanese artist in the J music forum...dear lord what have you done!
I only heard his new album "sensuous." It's mostly electronic instrumentals filled in randomly with a couple acoustic guitar numbers. Some of it's really good, the rest tends to be forgettable.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm having a hard time convincing any of my friends to go though, and I'm not one for going to bars by myself.
Who would have thought the average person wouldn't be interested in seeing an unknown (to them) Japanese solo artist?

Completely or semi OT, I'm not fussed either way.
