We did manage to get one Press Release squeezed out of PR regarding Dragon Ball. There's still some big secret announcement being made at Wizard World Texas this weekend. When we hear the news we'll post that too! Meanwhile here's the first update we got so far! Dragon Ball Returns to U.S. Television on the FUNimation Channel Anime phenomenon joins syndicated programming on November 13 with a six-hour Thanksgiving Day marathon on the CoLours TV Network FORT WORTH, TX -- November 9, 2006 -- FUNimation Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Navarre Corporation and the market share leader for home video sales of Japanese animation in the United States, announced today that Dragon Ball will make a triumphant return to U.S. television beginning this November. The Dragon Ball series will join FUNimation Channel’s syndicated anime block on the CoLours TV Network, part of DISH Network’s basic package, on November 13. There will also be a six-hour Dragon Ball marathon on Thanksgiving Day on the CoLours TV Network. The series is scheduled to become part of the programming on the FUNimation Channel in December. “One of the questions we get asked the most is ‘when is Dragon Ball coming to the FUNimation Channel?’” explains Gen Fukunaga, president and CEO of FUNimation Entertainment. “We are thrilled to announce that Dragon Ball is coming to our FUNimation Channel programming and our loyal fan base will be pleased to know that the series will be airing uncut.” Dragon Ball will air Monday through Friday at 10:00 p.m. ET on FUNimation Channel’s syndicated anime block on the CoLours TV Network. CoLours will also air a six-hour Dragon Ball marathon on Thanksgiving Day beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET. The Dragon Ball series will become part of the FUNimation Channel beginning in December. Dragon Ball is the precursor to Dragon Ball Z and it portrays a world where our heroes are not yet that much stronger than normal humans. It is an exciting time when fights could go either way. The tightly written story of Dragon Ball evolves in a graceful progression that creates a seamless transition into the world and events in Dragon Ball Z. Perhaps the most surprising aspect of this series is the comedy. Dragon Ball is that unique type of show that has both young and old laughing together. FUNimation is working with OlympuSAT, a leading distributor of independent digital programming networks, for the distribution of the FUNimation Channel. OlympuSAT is the exclusive distributor of the FUNimation Channel, which is now available to video service providers across the nation as a 24/7 linear channel and as syndicated programming. The FUNimation Channel is currently available to viewers nationwide as part of the CoLours TV Network, which is part of DISH Network’s extended basic package, to residents in the Los Angeles area via over-the-air broadcast on digital channel LA 18.3, to residents in seven states on Verizon FiOS TV extended basic package, to Hawaii residents on KIKU TV, and it is coming to Houston-area residents in November as part of Optical Entertainment Network’s FISION service. So, by definition, Dragonball would no longer be an anime because it caters to the American market.

It's still created primarily for the Japanese market by Japanese studios. It caters to the US market as well but that's more a beneficial side factor.

That's cool, and I saw it coming! Wonder if they'll show the FUNi block after the marathon, though, 10 hours of anime would be sweet.
