Any particular songs from any anime that just make everything stop for you and just catch your attention and wont let go?

The main one I am thinking about at the moment is pretty much all music by Susumu Hirasawa, who did the music for Berserk, Paranoia Agent and Paprika (and others I assume.) I found a lot of his work on Berserk was truly awesome, and it was also fantastic on Paranoia Agent (which has perhaps the best opening song ever.)

However it was one song in particular that made me interested in him. It was a truly fantastic song used in Paprika which lead to me considering buying the OST on import from Japan (which by a rather strange twist is coming out in about 2 weeks even though Japan doesn't even get a theatrical release of Paprika until next year for some reason.) But genuinely, the part where this song played was really amongst the most important moments of film I have ever seen. Is spending £20 just to hear this one song again slightly excessive?

[OT] Does anyone know the where or how I could find the song titles for the soundtrack of Paprika? I can't speak Japanese, which makes it a bit harder to understand Japanese music websites. Not asking for downloads of them or anything - not that they even exist as far as I am aware... But any tips would be truly appreciated.

In fact, if anyone could translate these listings:
Quote:
9. Lounge/ 平沢進
10. サーカスへようこそ/ 平沢進
11. 白虎野(パプリカバージョン)/ 平沢進
12. パレード(instrumental)/ 平沢進
13. パレード/ 平沢進

I would really appreciate it... Laughing

Get the name of the artist right please... It's "Susumu Hirasawa."

Not "Hirai."

Ok, before this turns into a contest translation Very Happy, I will say that I can't choose between these two songs that even now, after some time since I heard them the first time still make me want to stop from everything I am doing and listen them carefully.

Both of them are from the X/1999 (the TV series) ost, more precisely the Character file ost. One of them was Subaru, a piece that even now makes me stop from everything I am doing (I like to write my papers listening to this ost Wink ) and listen to it very carefully. It was this song that introduced me to the Yoko Kano's creations. The gentle way in which it succeeds in passing from a slow passage to those violins playing with so intensity even now makes me wonder what she was thinking when she composed this song. Each slight moment of the violins seems to breath the melancholy and the torment. I enjoy this piece very much.

The other one is called Nataku. When hearing this for the first time (it's the second song on the soundtrack) I had goose-bumps. The violins again and then viola.... what a festine of gentle sounds which kind of create the same melancholy that is present in the Subaru piece. It also gives a sense of solitude. I love this piece.

Both of them accompany me on every musical device that I may have in my possession. Embarassed

Bratja - Fullmetal Alchemist

Even when it comes on on my iPod, I still start crying. Another really amazing song is Blue from Cowboy Bebop, but I'm not entirely sure that counts as background music. Matantei Loki Ragnarok also has some absolutely stunning background music, especially on the second OST. My two favorite songs are Sadness and Hidden Feelings.

Oh yeah, and Salva Nos from Noir^^

I am probably pretty weird for saying this Anime smallmouth , but "sakura" by NIRGILIS gave me chills. Its the opening for Eureka Seven episodes 40-49.

I'd put 2 in this thread for being dramatic

1: The not so renowned Eternal Snow from Full Moon wo Sagashite. It will become a jaw dropping/emotive song around eps. 41 (was it?) due to Mitsuki's award winning drama performance.

2:
Who would forget Aozora from Air TV after seing it? That song was like a punch in the stomach which you didn't expected ! It's so full of emotion plus it was backed up by the BEST (I'm emphasizing it) drama performance I've ever since in any anime.

I would really like to add something from 3x3 Eyes but heck... it's not a song... it's a BGM...

And one for being exciting...

From One Piece: We Are!, it was the part when they we're cruising up to the sky. I was like "... ... ..." while watching it, then after that my mind went (Woah! That's was an amazing scene!) though I'm not really inside the TV.

my all-time favorite anime song would be Come Sweet Death in The End of Eva. This song makes me very sad everytime and I'll actually cry sometimes. It's just a great song from a very emotional movie.

Also, a song that I just recently came upon that I just love and have to pay attention to is the opening song to Ergo Proxy, Kiri. When watching anime series after watching the opening once or twice, I usually skip it in eps afterwards. I can't do that in Proxy cause I just love it.

Mmm... I'd have to say that Bratja (and the English version by Vic Mignogna) are some of the most emotive songs I've heard (have the English version in my iPod Very Happy), but actually, the songs that can get me crying are:

Song For Lover (Kids Alive--Hungry Heart Wild Striker): The first time I heard this song was in the part where spoiler[Miki and Kyousuke ALMOST kissed], and I was like "Beautiful!" And once I got the complete song, I couldn't help but sigh because of it.

Forever (Captain Tsubasa ROAD to 2002): It's not the real title, but I like it for myself. This song's beautiful (soprano saxophone solo and later strings), and pecaeful enough to sleep to. I highly recommend it

Soshite Hitotsu Ni... (D.N.Angel): Belive it or not, I use this song to overcome depression bouts. The crescendo in the beginning is like a sweeping breeze on a field for my ears, and the end is beautiful

Tears I Cried (Siam Shade -- Rurouni Kenshin OAVs): Listening to it right now. I'd say "Siam Shade, enough said," but there is more to it than the group (one of my faves). The keyboard, the string quartet in it... The way Hideki-san sang in it stole my heart when I listened to it for the first time, and the English bit in the end has a BEAUTIFUL meaning.
