Everybody thinks that they could make a cool anime if they had the chance. its a dream im working towards as an animation student. i want to create original stories as well as ova for american manga that doesnt have a chance to be animated like in japan.

but mostly put my anime ideas into reality. does anyone else have those type of dreams.

I want to be apart of the next ghibli or madhouse or gainax or animation collective!

Well I think about making a CGI series with elements similar to anime. I sure love Japanese culture. Smile

Ahh...the days of dreaming of being a commercial artist. I have teaching degrees in art and English, and it was my dream to teach during the school year and work on my manga/anime/erotic fantasy illustration during the summers. Sadly, there is this nasty thing called bills and finance companies couldn't give a rat's ass about your dreams. After 20 years of no breaks, nearly going bankrupt, nearly ending up homeless, I put down the pencils and pens, gave up teaching and didn't look back.

I did attempt a short foray into CG with 3DStudio Max and Hash Animation Master in the mid-90's, but none of the contract jobs came close to paying even 1/4 what I currently make. I sold my soul to capitalism instead.

Personally, I envy those that are willing to sacrifice everything for their anime dreams. If you want it, go for it, or you'll end up like me: a very bitter, cynical, pessimistic, pragmatic 40-year old man.

This is my angst post for the year.

My "dream" if you can call it that is pretty modest. If I had the software and the know-how to use it, I'd like to make an AMV using footage from Mononoke Hime and Joanna Newsom's song "The Book of Right On."

Here's something using that song with footage from Project Zero

I wish you nothing but luck. Heh, you should show us members what you can come up with and post your idea in the "Anime Ideas" section.

Good luck with everything!

OMFG I would LOVE to see that, as a rabid long-time Joanna Newsom fan. Something more epic like "Bridges and Balloons" or "What We Have Known" would fit better with Mononoke Hime in my mind (or the amazingly beautiful "Only Skin" from the new Ys release), but if you have a plan for "The Book of Right On," go for it. I guess a little dream of mine is animating a music video for her one day (hopefully not impossible). Joanna Newsom, along with Devendra Banhart, is one of my main sources of inspiration.

Besides that, somewhere down the road, I don't care if it takes me until I'm 60 years old, I'd like to either work with Studio 4°C or or work at an American studio that produces work as creative as theirs.

With the rise in "OEL Manga" and anime-styled American cartoons, it's not that much of a stretch to imagine stuff like this happening a few years down the road.

Me personally? I used to think it would be cool, but I'd much rather work with comics (no, not manga). Of course, my art style has been influenced over the years by anime and manga, but I have no intention of trying to make manga. I think it's great and all, but moreso than stuff like this, I'd rather be in journalism (well, that IS my college major, so maybe I'm required to say that? : P).

I wish you the best of luck with your studio ambitions. I also can see what you mean about using more "epic" music for Mononoke, but for some inexplicable reason, I've felt a deep connection between it and The Book of Right On since I first heard the song. I guess it has something to do with the spare, somber sound of the song, and lyrics like "do you want to ride on my back?/ Do you want to run, with my pack?/ Pray that what you lack does not distract"

When I first listened to the disc, Mononoke was the first thing that came to mind when I heard this tune. I think it also might be that there is something evocative (to my ears at least) of traditional Japanese music in the pacing, and structure of the song.

Making anime isn't really a dream of mine. Wwning a television station that shows quality and nostalgic anime--and other cartoons for that matter--is a dream of mine.

This "dream" is what causes terrible fanfiction.

So how many of you 'dreamers' have watched "Animation Runner Kuromi" or its sequel? There's a meta-anime!

Yes because everyone thinks they can write the best fanfic with spelling errors, bad grammar and plot holes.

I'm not saying that all fanfiction is bad. I'm simply saying that many "dreams" about creating new anime, usually based on pre-existing storylines, spawns terrible stories, such as stories of Edward Elric's twin sister or Kite/BlackRose/Mia sex parties.
