I just saw a new episode of Pokemon on Cartoon Network and noticed that the voice actors have been switched. I knew that this change was coming, but I had seen no signs of it on the WB. I honestly didn't like it, and I will only watch the upcoming episode, Battle Pyramid! Vs. Regirock! because I saw parts of the japaneese episode and want to know what's really going on.

This is old news.

And anyway, Pokemon's target audience is young kids who probably don't even notice the changes, so it's not really a big deal, although it still sucks. I feel bad for the original VAs, especially Veronica Taylor (Ash). At least they didn't dub Pikachu like some of the foreign dubs do.

What, praytell, does this mean? I'm very interested to know. Wink

Actually young kids do notice these changes, they're not mindless zombies. I'm not sure if the name change will necessarily be the downfall, but I have no doubt it will hurt the franchise and might effect it's lifespan domestically. The games though will be the lifeline, as long as they continue to produce quality games I doubt Pokemon will fall entirely.

I think it means that some foreign dubs dub pikachus voice whereas 4kids and now PUSA have kept Pikachus original voice intact.

That's right. I'm guessing some companies weren't able to get Ikue Ohtani's vocal clips or something. Maybe they were only supplied with the music and sfx tracks and nothing else. That's one thing 4Kids did right.

That's good. Even though I haven't been watching this show since God knows when, I still think the original VA's were pretty good, though I haven't heard the new voices yet.
