I've heard competing dates for the release of FMA: The Conquerer of Shamballa. I've heard either Sept. 12 or Nov. 14. I've even heard that the regular edition is Sept. 12, but that the limited edition is Nov. 14.

So, which is it? I honestly don't understand why they would have two different release dates for this, since we know that the rabid FMA fans are going to scoop up the LE regardless.

Is this just a marketing ploy to get people to buy BOTH versions?

Mine was shipped to me about a week ago and because of the fact that I also received the final 3 FMA DVDs at the same time, I didn't watch it until tonight. It also took me a while to watch it because of work and other things.

Since no one has answered your actual question, I guess I'll have to step in.

The answer is that both release dates are true.

The limited edition version of the movie was pushed back to November. The regular edition has a street date of this coming Tuesday.

FUNimation has yet to explain why they did that though.

From our friends over at Rightstuf.
FMA LE release date nov 14

Regular edition release date september 12

As for why Funi decided to screw over everyone who preorder the movie, I am not sure. I was hoping ANN was going to get some answers from Funi but to no avail. But needless to say I am pissed at Funimation for screwing over the fans who made the series such a hit.

My local anime store also had the dvd out a week or so ago, but then again they always put their dvds out early so I wasn't all that surprised.
Till next time,

Okay, just stop whining already. FUNi is not "screwing over the fans" by making you wait two months for the limited edition. Just deal with it. It's not like they're making you wait a whole year. Two months is no big deal, and if you think it is, that's your own problem. FUNi has gone to great lengths to bring us the greatness that is Fullmetal Alchemist, and here you are complaining because you can't wait a mere two months. It seems like whatever anime companies do these days, some people still complain.

Well normally an anime company will release the LE version first so that people who really want the movie/series get it first, and then normally a month after the regular editions comes out....and my complain isn't just about the release date of the movie, there is also the other special edition that can only be found at other stores.....which is upsetting to me because I preorder my movie thinking I was getting the special edition. Little did I know Funi would pull a fast one, then there is the actual release of the movie which for some reason didn't play in lots of major markets....I am not arguing that Funimation has done a great job releasing the series, the movie is a different story.

Ya know, if it had been this way from the get-go, I would have been mildly annoyed at best. But it wasn't. Originally both versions of the movie were slated to come out at the same time (Sept. 26th to be precise.) So, naturally I opted to support one of my favorite shows and favorite companies by buying the more expensive version... and my 'thank you' is getting hucked 2 months back while fans who, for whatever reason, 'cheaped out' for the normal edition get bumped up a week and a half?! Of COURSE I'm going to complain! And then there's the announcement of the Besy Buy and Borders-only limited editions, which are different from one another (And possibly from the LEs other stores are getting, I don't have much detail on the BB one). Luckily, the one I pre-ordered is the one I prefer... but what if it wasn't? Or what if I want everything it comes with AND to see/own it as soon as possible? Well, the way Funi's handled this, I'd have to spend a few hundred dollars traveling cross-state from Seattle to Kenniwick, which was apparently a better choice for the theater showing than the home of the largest Anime con in the Northwest. Then when I get back, I need to buy 4 different versions of the same movie. Evil or Very Mad

Long story short- Funi's overly set aside the wants of the fans on this one, for what looks like simple greed. Considering its us fans buying up Fruba and DBZ and such that gave them the money to pick up FMA in the first place, don't you think they could at least give us an explaination?

He paid for it, he has a right to complain if wants. Especially when the limited release gets pushed back for no reason, since they won't explain why. But I forgot, we're not allowed to voice our opinions. Just BUY! BUY! BUY! and shut up before the Anime SS locks you up.

God Gundam, you're a part of a male's anatomy. Honestly, if you knew the situation and you were in someones shoes and actually pre-ordered the limited edition and then right before it's released you have to wait 2 months for the special edition to come out, AND the regular edition wasn't pushed back.... I'm pissed off about it and I didn't even pre-order it.

I just got my copy of FMA the Movie today.... (just so you know it was GREAT!) But I was a bit disappointed to find out that the mini OVA's didn't come with it. So my question is will they be in the FMA Movie Limited Edition?

Me, but I'm not bothered in the slightest. Considering the real LE packaging, not these "exclusive bundles" that Best Buy and Borders/Waldenbooks are getting Rolling Eyes , I'm willing to wait.

I am, I really want the Lenticular covers for my LE, it's part of reason I bought the LE version....I was assuming that Funi would do something for those who purchase the LE version.

This is what The Right Stuf has for their FMA Movie listing:
Quote:
Taking place two years after the last episode, the Elric Brothers must reunite to prevent ultimate catastrophe as the worlds of reality and alchemy collide.

This limited edition comes with a 64-Page hardback book, ten 5x7 portrait cards, and a bonus DVD with extras.

DVD Features: "The Making of Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie."

Bonus DVD Features: 54 Minute Interview with Japanese Cast and Crew, 3 Audio Commentaries, 2 Japanese Staff Commentaries, US Staff Commentary, Extended Trailer.

Spoken Languages: English, Japanese, English subtitles.

So it doesn't look like it, but who knows, Funi might be sneaky.
