It would have been nice if they went with the original series, since it has better art. Also, Shin Chan's about crossing the line between harmless and outrageous, and it sounds like FUNimation just decided to re-dub the show and go for the cheap shots.

Yeah, because it's a comedy show.

This is all I found here. All the rest are movies.

Can some one please explain what the words in orange mean. I don't know much about the show, so please be gentle.

Dargon: Check out the article Stylistic Evolution in Crayon Shin-Chan under the April 30 update to understand what I mean.

Ah, I see. The art style changed. I have to say I like the older one better too.

Well, I sure hope Funimation does a good job working with a tricky anime like this. I have read the manga which Drmaster refuses to continue translating, and would find it very nice to see Shinchan not be Americanized as the like, but Funimation's version is already sounding a little strange. I certainly don't recall any character being focused on politics... and a racist at that..?
I do understand they're trying to help the main audience of [as] understand it, but too much editing really wrecks a show. I believe they did some of that in the UK version of Shinchan, considering I didn't like it.

And I suppose I shouldn't complain, but Shinchan's seiyuu's voice is a perfect match for him.. and I will always be biased to it. :p

Well apparently this guy worked on shin chan.

From his attitude, it seems it all going to come down to the jokes, and how much sense they make.

I don't know take it or leave it, I am just posting it if any of you are interested. It could be total BS, but who knows.

I wish they would show this in the Sunday comedy block, I think that would attract much more people to this type of comedy show. From the commercials, it does seem to fit, IMO.

I watched the first clip. Can't say I'm even remotely interested myself, but I will say that my older brothers (not anime fans) are going to eat this show up. It's precisely the kind of humor they love. Honestly, seeing that clip without already knowing it was anime, I would have assumed it was just another Cartoon Network original show.

I think it has the chance to strike a cord with the comedy watchers, and might not make them automatically think "oh, another one of those anime shows." One of my brother enjoys a few anime, but having hated Fullmetal Alchemist, he's not exactly wanting to watch anymore at this time. Perhaps Shin can change his mind.

Still, I admire Dorkin's work on the "Dork" comics and the "Welcome to Eltingville" pilot I only wish was picked up as a series on Adult Swim.

I had been hoping for this since a while back... The show obviously was butchered and made even raunchier, usually the puns were shinchan's comments or behaviour, but now it seems that the dialogue for the characters is going to have a tendency to try too hard to make a joke.

Kasama a Interested in Politics? Miss Yoshinaga as the Pink Pussy? I hope people like all this so that the fans can get DVDs with the original dialogue and subtitles.

There has been shinchan in a lot of countries, and one of the best dubs I have heard is the actual Spanish one (from Spain not from Latin America, which was ported from the UK run). I found that even funnier than the Japanese, and it is very well translated.

Either way I have my fingers crossed hoping that Shinnosuke makes it big in the States so that people in this country can appreciate the genius that is: Crayon Shin Chan.

ps. Dr Master should really be releasing the manga again, im stuck in no 10 and IMO sometimes the manga is even funnier than the tv show.

So I saw the showing on [adult swim] tonight.

I'd give the dub a pass. It's kinda hard for them to accurately match the VA with the original Seiyuu. For example, Tooru Kazama doesn't sound like a well-mannered boy, and Bo in the english dub doesn't retain his slow and expressionless demeanor.

The jokes....sometimes it 's a hit, sometimes it's a miss. Needs work.

My main gripe....it's the ending song. Pari Jona Daisakusen doesn't sound very well spoken in english. I seriously hope that FUNi releases an uncut version alongside the dub.

Yeah I watched last night as well, and I must say at first, I was a little disappointed, but as it went on it got funnier. Something about hanging by your balls until they turn black is still in my head. I think the main thing is you just have to get used to the voices, they don't fit the way the character are uniquely drawn(I have never seen the original dub by the way). But once you get used to it you don't notice it as much and are more focused on what is being said.

They certainally took liberties with the script, which I expected.

Does anyone know what they bleaped out? I figured it was "pussy" Cat, but I swear I have heard [as] use that word before.

Yeah, that balls thing was hilarious. Right now I have the song the little girl sang to the father stuck in my head. "Rock-a-by Hiro on the hard floor, Shin should be with me, and not some dumb WHORE!" I fell off of my bed at that point.

I thought the voices were a little... (for the lack of a better word) funky. The mother sounded like Bulma in the dub from DBZ. I noticed that immediately. The little girl sounded weird, but I think her voice made everything she said a little funnier.

I particularly liked the show last night. I didn't get to watch all of it because I fell asleep, but it's a good thing I remembered to Tivo it (along with Eureka 7, which I missed too). It definitely showed the promise of a funny show to me, so I look forward to watching more episodes.
