I don't follow Fairy Tail, because it simply wasn't as good as Rave Master to me, but I'm sure this is awesome news for you fans out there.

Aside from another movie or OVA project, what else could it have possibly been that anyone would have cared about?

I think we all saw this coming, I lost track of the series not far into it but its good to see it hasn't suffered the same fate as Bleach.

Excellent news! The spoiler[Magic Games/Dragon Festival] arc just ended on a high note and I really want to see the Fifth Day of the games animated, the battles were fantastic spoiler[(esp. Gajeel vs Rogue)]. I hope it's not a total reboot, the anime is fairly new and I generally consider it a pretty good adaptation, so I hope it just picks up where it left off

Kinda made the comment quick but I was referring to just more anime overall (movie, ova etc...). I'm glad the show is restarting.

This was obvious. Though, I did want news on a Rave remake.

Seems a bit early for a continuation in all honesty. They'll finish this arc and maybe part of the next before running out of material. I figured they'd at least wait a year or two. Not that I mind the anime-only material, but it seems odd to just ax the show for only a few months. Unless it's also changing channels or timeslots.

It was already weird for them to ax it right in the climax of the arc. A complete reboot would make no sense when the last series ended on a huge cliffhanger. Maybe they're announcing it now but they'll take time to actually air it, because I do agree there isn't really that much material to use.

Or they could finish up this arc now, and then have a mother of all filler arcs lasting a whole year or something.

As everyone stated, we saw it coming. But I was hoping to know when it's coming back.

Personally, I'd have liked the series to not continue for a while, long fillers are a waste of time. That's why the best anime adaptations in terms of not dawdling are YuYu Hakusho, Dragon Ball Z Kai and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

There, confirmation from the man himself

All that's left to know is 'when'

I'm happy but a bit confused. Does a relaunch mean they are picking up where the series left off or does it mean a reboot? A reboot would be less exciting news for me. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. It always bugs me how so many anime announcements seems so vague.
