James Cameron doesn't do what James Cameron does for James Cameron. James Cameron does what James Cameron does because James Cameron is James Cameron.

I wanna see what he can do with it because it will be either incredibly good or horribly bad. I mean when Avatar was able to look how he wanted he basically invented the tech he used to make it and I read in a interview somewhere(It was on a movie site asking him about Avatar 2 and Battle Angel came up) that he planned to basically do the same thing for Battle Angel. The thing is he has talked about it endlessly and always seems to pick something new to focus on and not go on to Battle Angel despite saying he would so I will not believe it until I see it.

Cameron mentioned that he wanted Alita to be a completely CG character of a 14 year old girl's body played by an older actress via performance capture as in Avatar. The action scenes alone as portrayed in the manga and instances of Alita's damaged or upgradable body already necessitate full CG. He intends that Battle Angel be a franchise/trilogy.

I hope it's the James Cameron who made Terminator that makes this instead of the Avatar one.

Whats an Alita. Oh something from the old days. Who cares.
He has waited too long. Period. This topic should been taboo by now.

God Lord that man is dedicated. I'm fraid that guy going mess up the franchises' rep. I actually found Battle Angel Alita: Last Order a much better Manga series than the original. The story not bouncing every where.
I wonder what part of it (if any) he going to adapt for the film.

Probably, none of it, but his version.

Great. By the time the final product comes out, the remaining fandom will be long gone.

I have a sneaking suspicion we will never see this project really take off. He's been talking about it well over a decade, and even pushed it back for the sake of making more (imo, unnecessary) Avatar films guaranteed to net a profit instead of this, a film fans actually want to see. This is like the supposed adaptations of Akira and Evangelion currently in development-hell; Hollywood just doesn't have the faith to plop down the required cash to make a decent film from a niche franchise (to them anyways). Hopefully Pacific Rim's success will interest them in mecha franchises, like Gundam perhaps, and some adaptations of those will renew our chances.
