love this show but hate the english release cuase they don't translate notes and signs.
spoiler[
Episode 19, where he's fighting the D1 and leaves the girl in the room, I'm guessing all those signs are her writing a love note, or trying to tell him that him killing the D1 will kill her as well, and I'm also guessing that the last note she wrote was I love you, however I can't confirm this becaues I don't know Japanese, can anyone tell me really what those signs were saying?]

You should really use some spoiler tags there.

I thought it was pretty damn vague with all the pronouns anyways; but if you insist I'll slap em on

I thought they did translate those things. Have you tried looking in the languages menu for a way to turn on subtitles while leaving the audio on English?

I can't remember all of the messages, but I can remember some. She writes things like, "How are you?", "I don't want to do this." I think some of them are things like "I love you." and "I want to spend more time with you." I think the final message is simply "spoiler[Goodbye]".

By the way, you might want to put comments like spoiler[Ayato killing the D1 kills Asahina as well] in spoiler tags.

spoiler[You're pretty much right. I don't remember EXACTLY what they say, but when he looks to the side and sees the big building with the writing down it vertically, it says his name (Ayato), and then when they pull back to show the whole city with the writing across it, and the last sign trailing down because she died as she was writing it? That says "Goodbye".]

Um, I don't know what you've got, but my official American release copy of RahXephon volume 5 (which has ep 19) includes subtitled translations for the the messages in that scene with the regular English dub, and I didn't have to do anything special to the settings. Maybe you have a bootleg?

The messages, in order, go:

spoiler["Hello

How. . . are you

I have a problem

Please help me

I don't want to do this

I don't want to fight. . . Ayato

It hurts

I want to tell you the truth

I want to talk to you more

Ayato

Ayato

I love you

Ayato (when he's looking at the building)

Good Bye]

Okay thanks.

Watching dvd rips (I guess that's what they are) on mkv and I can't figure out how to get it to translate those signs I guess.

spoiler[that's really sad though, was hoping she'd become more of a major character near the end Neutral]

This show reminds me too much of Evangelion, not that it's a bad thing cause I'm an eva fan. Very Happy

Now back to watching Escaflowne (also very good series)

got another question, kinda simple.
spoiler[
This gonna end like EVA did or is it gonna be a more litteral ending? I just wanna be prepared; gonna have to do some research anyways to absorb everything out of this series anyways but it'd be nice to know if I'm gonna be like "UM WTF" again. Jumping into EVA unwarned wasn't cool D: ]

RahXephon's endings are much like those for NGE; the one in the TV series may leave you scratching your head, and a different one is offered for the movie version.

I found that RahXephon has a simmiliar ending yes but I found it far more understandable. Oh and yeah there's a film as well more like a recap though with new scenes like spoiler[Ayato and Haruka making love] and different or just alternately told ending. Most people hate it I didn't mind it.

I found the ending to RahXephon significantly more understandable than Evangelion. After watching the series a second time (after having seen the movie, also), the only question I had left was why the Great Mu War started, but mostly I figure spoiler[it was some machination of Bahbem's doing]. I have no idea how accurate that assumption may be, but it prevents me from getting too confused.

Also, for the movie, they alter how some of the character are related slightly.

I've watched RahXephon as well and have enjoyed it MUCH better then NGE but your comment made me realize that I, too, didn't know how the Great Mu War started or even how the Mu came into being in the first place.

Did I miss something in the series or is that, perhaps, explained in the manga which I haven't read.

as far as NGE vs Rah-Xephon, it's kinda obvious that Rah-Xephon is a lot better written and planned out, but it's also very obvious just how much influence the writers got from NGE, even to the point where we got characters like Rei and Quan, who are really quiet similar in many, many aspects. So, even though I believe this one is better written, I still give NGE the "zomg first" credit and I am enjoying both equally.

Gonna be a toughy to decide what to buy hard copies of first; well, probably not, I'd go with NGE for the same reason, it's older lol Razz. (still havn't started my own lil collection, sadly QQ)

I may be a little fuzzy on this, but the Mu are from an alternate universe/reality/whatever and began crossing over to human Earth becuase of the Mu world's impending demise (which I believe was in part due to spoiler[Bahbem messing around trying to create the RahXephon system]). I don't believe the series goes into specifics of how the Mu get from their world to ours, spoiler[although there is the bit about being spirited forth and how Maya and Quon arrived. Also, Bahbem himself apparently somehow crossed over centuries ago].
