i don't know about u guys...but i always get very depressed after finishing an anime,well..not only dat...if i like it enough, i would often cry for a pretty long time, it sort of makes u feel empty inside..ya know the feeling when u are very close to someone, and all of a sudden they are gone?...it feels lk ur always part of it until it's over......i felt dat when i finished fullmetal alchemist ...maybe it's the sad ending that made me feel unsatisfied...Do u have an anime that made u feel that way?

oh yes you really know you like an anime when it does that to you full metal alchemist did that to me to some extent but to me the series that most affected me where, Trigun, 3x3 Eyes, Samurai Champloo, and Hack//Sighn among others so dont worry your not alone or some kinda freak for being emotionally attached to characters from a well written story =)

Oh yes I've had that feeling, when Saikano ended I felt really depressed. I felt that way for about two days, Cowboy bebop also made feel that way, I suppose it's that you didn't want the series to end but your glad it ended well.

To Every single anime i have ever seen. but then I buy the Dvds and I feel all better, or something else comes along. |

That is the mark of a great series. Many series have made me feel a little down when I pop in the last dvd or when the credits roll for the last time. There are too many to list for me, but maybe later I will jot down a few

I think everyone feels that way with one anime or another. Alot has to do with you've invested so much time and so much interest and even part of your heart watching the series and when you are finished with it, it does leave you a little depressed. I felt that way when Witch Hunter Robin & Fullmetal Alchemist ended on Cartoon Network. I don't think that I will have that sort of feeling with Inu Yasha though, since it took 4 years to get it over with.
What's worse is the letdown when the ending is just bad. I'm not talking about ambiguous in the way that WHR & FMA were, since those let you draw your own satisfactory conclusions but I'm talking about endings where you go "What the H... just happened here." Ones where you're asking who lived, who died, what exactly happened here. The most recent one for me was E's Otherwise...spoiler[big explosion at the end] and I have no idea what really happened to the hero, his sister, his love interest, the big brother, various other "good' characters not to mention what the heck happened to the bad guys. 
There should be a law against ambiguous endings!

Yes, and then also you get mad when the ending of that great series turns out to be just crappy, when there was this great build up and then you're let down. That's happened to me in both situations.

 but someimes you can look foward to movies & OAVs & stuff

I've felt that way a few times but only when a series I really liked ended in a manner I didn't like. I'm glad that many have actually ended well so I haven't been crushed everytime. When I'm getting ready to watch the end of a series I make sure to have an upbeat series ready to watch to distract me until I'm ready to reflect on the completed series...

Only one: The Dog of Flanders. Oh wow. Grave of the Fireflies doesn't even come close. I think I'm pretty insensitive to anything lately and haven't cried in...I don't know how many years. Chrono Crusade is probably the closest one aside from that. I'm not a huge fan of sad endings, personally. It's great but just too depressing!

I totally agree although the reason I started watching anime was because my "therapist" wanted me to find a medium which would safely expose me to emotions |

Oh hell no. Read the forum rules and think for a second about whether or not this kind of typing is allowed. You type in complete sentences, you use punctuation, you spell right, and you don't dare use any of that internet shorthand crap. "U people" will improve your typing immediately, or face consequences. Now is that clear? |

Petite Princess Yucie was like that for me. I had seen half of it, and had fallen in love with it. I bought the box set a couple of weeks ago, and watched the whole series in the course of two days. I loved episodes 1-25, but the last episode, 26....it was like Fushigi Yugi all over again. However, this was worse, because FuYu went down hill way before the ending, where was the only flaw with Yucie was the ending. I still don't regret getting the boxset, or watching episodes 1-25 though. They were all amazing. |

I know that feeling, though its not that extreme with me. Full metal alchemist is a perfect example because it has so many episodes (51?). Aften seeing such and good, deep, funny and entertaining adventure you get a sad feeling knowing it has finished. The story is over and you wont see anything new of these awesome characters and this world. Its like they are gone. After a good 13 episode show one might think "ok, its finished; it was a very good show; thats it; so lets see the next show." But after 50 episodes its theres something like a bond. Its not thateasy then.

I sure do feel low when an anime series ends or is taken off the air (happens a lot in Colombia), but hey, things have an end, so I merely have to deal with it.
