There's apparently a typo with Attack's entry -- a disconnect between how many weeks it's been on the list and what its previous rank (or lack thereof...) is.

I'm surprised Kingdom Hearts isn't on here. It was sold out at both of the B&N I go to!

Or they didn't carry it to begin with, which, sorry to say, is the likelier of the two possibilities. I could probably guarantee that at least one of those stores isn't carrying it. |

Attack on Titan is #1 at amazon. I'm not sure how NY times do the math. They probably do not count the online retailers.

The NY list is not necessarily a reflection of reality. |

I wonder how much this varies from state to state. I did a search on B&N's website to see where the first volume of KH Final Mix was in stock near me (I'm in Michigan). 10 of 11 stores w/in 100 miles had it in stock (including both B&Ns in my city. the one store that didn't was in Indiana). Then I tried searching around Columbus, OH, and none of the thirteen stores w/in 100 miles seemed to carry it. Checking on Chicago, I had to go through six pages of results to find copies in several Wisconsin stores and two cities on the outer edges of Illinois. |

There's nothing special behind why or why not it's in stock. Each store gets books based on what has sold in the past, and it more than likely is the stores that didn't get it don't have very high sales in manga to warrant stocking it. Always pre-order from the store if you know you're going to buy it, and if they see interest/sales they may start stocking. That's what happened with my B&N and Bride's Story. |

Oh yeah, I regularly place special orders at my local bookstore for things I want! I also encourage everyone to do so if you wish to see more manga in stores :D I was just checking store stock out of curiosity, and found it odd that the results seemed to be all-or-nothing statewide (all the MI and WI stores seemed to have it, compared to none or almost none of OH, IN, IL). Of course, I didn't take a full survey of every store in the US, or look at results for other titles, so maybe my observation would fall apart on closer inspection. |

Attack on Titan #1 has been on the NYT besteller's list twice, but it was not on the list last week, which is why there is no number listed in the Prev. Rank column. The last time that volume was on the chart was in June 2012: animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-07-06/new-york-times-manga-best-seller-list-june-24-30 |
