I actually don't like the character design and don't get how the guys are supposed to be attractive. I guess it's a fujoshi thing?
Will see whether it's a good story. If not, I will not follow it.

I don't find any anime characters attractive. It's the more the character personalities & the voice work I become a fan of.

They're cleanly designed, spiky-haired, muscular, and look just soft enough as to not be intimidating. Does that answer your question?

After seeing first 2 previews, this looks exactly like K-On with hot guys. Swimming competitions will probably be as rare as actually playing music in K-On.

As a hipster, I had shipped them long before the CM. ;D
Nagisa might be next, followed by Rei, and finally the rival Rin.
Plus, everyone knew this was going to be a slice of life anime; the director even said so during the official announcement. I don't care, I just want July to get here already!!

I'm just drifting further away from kyoani for every new release.
There haven't been anything decent since Nichijou.

People keep making this comparison, but K-On actually managed to put out a pretty decent amount of songs all through its run. I don't have exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure there were at least ten different songs plus the openings and endings -including a really cute version of Tsubasa wo Kudasai that I quite love.
So if there's a relatively equivalent swimming time in Free as there was actual music time in K-On, I think I will be satisfied

Considering that Haruka pointed out that they're repairing the pool in this preview, it seems more to me that it's going to focus on the minutiae of the life in the club. This doesn't mean just swimming, but also things like maintenance, recruiting, and, yes, goofing around.
This is actually a pretty smart move, as a lot of fangirls seem to like the idea of following the lives of characters that play sports (ala Kuroko no Basuke) but tend to focus more on the day-to-day life outside the competition in their own fanworks about said series. This seems like it's going to be about the club, but in a generalized way that allows for a lot of character interaction within the club structure.

In my eyes, there are many other better bishounen designs out there. For KyoAni, it looks cheap and the proportions are weird. Fujoshi will flock to/slash anything with guys no matter how poorly drawn it is and how bad the story and characters are (e.g. Kuroko's shit/Hitman Reborn). That's what I meant.

Hrmm, doesn't sound so different from the idea of otaku flocking to ecchi anime no matter how badly the character designs are and how inconsistent the plot is. They're one in the same except otaku flood the market with their audience and QQ when fujoshi get their taste of the consumer's market.
