The "suggested" prices and such were already out for English release, but today is the first day you can reserve them, and the prices are set. An unsurprising 90$ per blu box (1 of 4) and 40$ per dvd box.

I know there's a lot of mixed opinions regarding the show but does anyone plan on buying it at the current pricing?

Dvd:http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/tC5AMF1ctlJS=xhYWI/browse/item/98499/4/0/0

I personally enjoy the show a lot but I find that much money for a show hard to swallow. I'm not sure. So much money for so little.

Very likely, no. Aniplex's pricing has made me very hesitant at wanting to even try snagging their stuff and my reception of SAO's early episodes were low enough that I dropped the show when it aired last year. I'm not gonna burn $100+ on something that even other fans found to be a mixed bag in quality.

For the right show, I would get all of that. But SAO is not the show to justify that expense for me.

For Aniplex prices, the DVD looks downright reasonably priced for them.

Too bad SAO's reputation is that it suffers big time in the end, so no. They've gotta have an epic show, then I'd buy it.

If it was the same level of quality, I would pay that much for Aniplex's Magi or Zetsuen no Tempest releases. Sword Art Online isn't something I'd want to watch again, is all.

I'll probably get the DVDs. $360 for the BDs is simply too rich for my blood. $225 is the highest I've ever paid for a single, non-OOP title (the three PMMM LE sets) and I'm in no rush to break that record.

I did actually pay for the limited edition PMMMs, but that was cause I sold an OOP copy of Karin for about $150 on ebay.

$360 seems like a bit much for the blurays. The DVDs, while a bit pricey still, actually seem like a manageable price. But I'd rather have the blurays.

I'll probably just watch the dub on toonami. If a cheaper BR set ever comes out, or there is a decent sale, then we'll see. Because, then again, I only really enjoyed the first half of SAO

And, damn, I forgot about Magi! Not lookin forward to that price.

I'm so glad I read manga, I'm just going to get the manga for Magi, so the idea of buying the anime at a steep price isn't even an issue for me.

Nope. We live in a time of HD. I'd pay $160 for the BD, but not for DVD. I didn't buy a BD player and flat screen to watch DVDs. Fortunately, SAO failed to hold my interest and I won't feel bad skipping this release.

Why would I buy sword art when I could just buy the real thing? The worst I could do with sword art is paper cuts. With a real sword I can chop off limbs.

There is just no comparison.

I would if it was released at a reasonable price but right now I can justify spending that amount for something I got bored of after the first arc. If a complete set was released then I may consider giving it another shot.

I will buy the first set because 1) as an importer I'm curious about the style of this release, 2) my girlfriend has expressed interest in this show after being introduced to Japanese RPG, and 3) she will appreciate an English dub because to her, watching subtitles = pulling teeth lol.

No commitment yet. Just the first set.

Since I've already viewed enough of it on CR to determine that it's not for me I don't have an urge to own a copy of this particular title in any shape size or form. Not the manga, a cd, or even a figure. Seems my days of hoarding are winding down. I'm finding it easier and easier to pass on buying everything within clicking range.

But if you're already a fan of the show I'm glad that you are able to get it so soon and in blu. I bet it will look pretty and sound great in HD.

I wouldn't buy it for 1 cent.

But I am happy for the fans. If it was a series I really enjoyed I'd pay the price.
