THE STARSHIP DAMREY Sounds a lot like the old Infocom text game Suspended. Overall it appears very interesting.

Geez, sounds like I need to check out Fuse for the voice actors alone!
No really, I might give this one a try. Nothing beats Jennifer Hale.

Starship Damrey sounds interesting too, but I wonder if it's really scary or not...I'm not that good with scary games >.>

Devilish: Devilish's GG cover art is so much better than the DS one. On the other hand, the U.S. art on the right has its pros and cons. The original Japanese art didn't make the devil in the background look nearly as cool as we did, but we made the human and fairy look derpy atrocious.

Xbox One: Seriously just asking this out of neutrality, but why is everyone getting such a hair up their ass about the name of the console? Why does the name even matter that much?

Black Rock Shooter: So, despite all the whining and moaning for this to be brought here as well as the delayed release, it turns out to be a pretty mediocre game with a clichéd story? Wow, way to go fans, you sure know how to pick 'em. Does anyone even remotely like BRS since its release?

Wow, so my sister and I aren't the only people who played Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ? (Or LRRHZBBQ as we call it.) It was all about Zombie Santa for me, although I'm still trying to figure out (wooden) Zombie Pinocchio.

Guilty Gear X2 Plus R does have "2" new characters, for online at least. Justice and Kliff.

I guess the Vita version lacks online, but what about the PSN version? When that comes out, I'm sure it will have online play and we will finally get to use Justice and Kliff in online matches{previously, they weren't useable online except for player matches with the option for them turned on due to their previously unbalanced nature.}

Honestly, calling the new Xbox the 'Xbox One' is completely idiotic. It's gonna confuse people who aren't really in on everything, like the people who think that the WiiU is just an accessory for the Wii. Plus, from the looks of things, it's aimed at those people. The fact that the original Xbox is sometimes referred to as the Xbox One makes sound even worse.

Anyways, Guilty Gear looks great. I've only played one GG game (GGX2 on PSP), and I don't like the controls as much as Blazblue, but I'd be willing to give it a chance. Anyways, when I was watching the trailer, I was thinking, 'wow, nice sprites'. Then the perspective shifted, and then I was like 'HOLY SH!T, THESE ARE 3D MODELS?!?' Those are undoubtedly the most impressive anime-styled 3D models I've ever seen in a video game, although one tiny thing bugged me- they still seemed to behave like sprites. Upon taking damage, they instantly shifted to the damage animation, and there was no animation between standing and taking damage. It just wasn't as smooth as I'd expect for a game that uses 3D models, but I guess it does a good job of emulating the look and feel of sprite-based fighters.

"A brand-new Xbox One game includes an access code that allows the game to be installed on a system "

Oh god, that makes it even worse. I mean, blocking second installations is horrendous on its own but on top of that, even when you buy new you're gonna have to dick around with entering a code just so I can play the game you just bought. What a joke.

On the topic of BRS: I wanted to buy it, but I'm still not sure. I'm not feeling the "half-RPG, half-action game" idea. I kinda wish they had just made it a beat-em-up.

...Dammit, BRS game made by Platinum Studios on the PS3 when?

That was a completely intentional design decision in order to emulate the feel of 2D sprites, and I (and a lot of other GG players) think it looks really cool.

One thing consoles had over PC was the swapping games around freely on the fly either to a friend or selling it. Now if they just come with a CD key and you can only install it on one machine, that advantage goes away.

Uh, you always could do that with PC games.

Even if there's DRM, finding a crack online takes like 3 seconds of searching. And when a game has DRM, using a crack is justified.

Agree with this. There are almost too many games for the DS that all deserve attention. I'll probably never get through them all Sad

As far as GG goes I get that it's likely done intentionally for effect, but I hope they can balance the animation to make it a bit smoother. It's just a little too "much" right now in my opinion.

seeing GG with brand new artwork is definitely a plus. I still can't believe that those were 3D models instead of sprites. I wonder what the redesigns of Baiken, Testament, Johnny, and Dizzy will be like.

As soon as I saw that there was a new Guilty Gear in the works, I knew it would take up the majority of Todd's next column, no matter how little information on it was available.

I seriously doubt it'll be for next-gen consoles given that it's running on Unreal 3.

How does lunar dragon song not get a mention. It killed a beloved rpg franchise lunar, and is probably critically one of the lowest rated games let alone rpgs that I have ever seen. Especially considering the focus of this column is Japanese style games, mainly rpgs and fighters this game should have at least got a mention on the ds list.
