Yes, I posted this in both the anime and manga forums because it's relevent to both and I thought I'd get a greater amount of feedback if I did so.
Just finished up the Fruits Basket anime, wondering what volume of the manga picks up the story, and what differences are there in the manga from the anime that would be relevent to the story and /or characters?
With Gantz, I've heard it's also another series where the manga continues, if so what volume picks it up, and what differences are there in the two?
Thanks in advance <3

Fruits Basket covers the first seven manga volumes and part of volume eight. There were some pretty major changes involving Shigure and Akito's characters. Aside from that, the big thing the anime left out was a subplot involving Haru beginning in volume 8, which becomes fairly important later in the manga, which they didn't get into because it would have involved introducing another character who they knew they weren't going to have time to get into.
There are also a few amusing little scenes that the anime left out which you might want to catch (Master of Horror Haru and Tohru's real first meeting with Momiji ), so if what you're asking is if you should skip the first seven manga volumes to save money and not reread material you're already familiar with, I'd say it might still be worth picking up the first seven volumes even though most of it will be rehashing what you already know, in some cases almost word for word.

thank you so much! I'll be starting with volume 8 then most likely, now only if anyone knew about Gantz =X
as for Akito goes, it's my understanding SHE (a girl in the manga ) isn't really shown much or at all, unlike the anime. THe other character I assume, is the rooster.

Spoiler for those following the English version:Although it's pretty common knowledge, the English version has not revealed that secret about Akito yet, so you might want to edit and note that your spoiler is for those reading the English version just to be on the safe side since English readers don't officially have that information yet. I was actually referring to the fact that Akito is (unfortunately for everyone) not terminally ill in the manga, and has not had a change of attitude yet.
The missing character I was talking about is Rin, the Horse, who shows up before Kureno the Rooster and who we start learning about through Haru and Hiro long before Tohru actually meets her.

When it comes to Kureno you find out that Shigure hates him very much also.

Please try not to post duplicate topics in multiple forums. I will leave this one open, but only because I think the Anime forum gets more looks than the Manga forum. Just don't this again next time. Thanks.
