Hi, has anyone seen the new dub of Patlabor? I can't fathom what was wrong with the original dub, although i read that Manga UK lost the rights to it or something. What's the new dub like? I'm still so gutted that Peter Marinker's dulcet tones won't be gracing this DVD release... Sad

Because Manga lost the license, and Bandai Visual perhaps didn't want to pay for the old dub to be on their DVD (subsequently, the original Japanese 2.0 isn't on there either). It's not a bad dub but my tolerances to these things vary.

I've not listened to the English tracks, but the new Japanese track is at least as good as the original. The new 5.1 mix is also very good. I wish that the original 2.0 mixes were on there so you could compare the two. ADV's first episode of Macross has the old Harmony Gold dub which you can compare their new dub with. The extras disc seems a bit short for such an expesnsive box set, but the books are gorgeous. The entire storyboards book has been translated, unlike Funimations Samurai 7. I just got the second Patlabor box set, and once again both books are stellar. The boxes really match since they are both metalic silver. I'm probably going to buy all the Honneamise rereleases, unless they start releasing them weekly, or start doing weaker titles.
