Alright. All you Dubsnobs, who get autographs of your favorite local celebrity VA at whatever con you go to. Listen to this trailer.

This is why we hate English VAs. It all sounds this hammy and this crappy. The VAs might be talented guys and gals, but the people who are directing them have no clue how to convey the tone set by the work.

There are few exceptions, like GitS and Cowboy Bebop, sure. But the MAJORITY of Dubs sound like this.

This is a dark game about demons. There is nothing happy or upbeat visually with this trailer, but the announcer sounds like he is about to introduce the next two Pokemon Gym Leaders. It sucks.

The English dub on the Soul Hackers game for 3DS is surprisingly tolerable. And this is coming from someone who is strictly sub only when it comes to anime.

So I have some hope that SMTIV will be at least that tolerable.

Soul Hackers in April, which I have yet to play + SMT IV in July, great!

Will have to do, wish it has the original Japanese audio, it doesn't right

Also I agree with TheZeonicFront, this voice does not fit quite well the overall atmosphere of a SMT game. This voice leaves a lot to be desired for me, will wait and see to hear the rest of the cast.

It does not, unfortunatly. I believe having two separate dub tracks on one 3DS game is just beyond its storage limitations.

Gee, way to be a drama queen and blow things outrageously out of proportion.

Anyway, Jamieson Price sure knows how to hype something. whenever he's around I know I'm gonna enjoy it.

It's hard to critique when you don't know the context. Was this line from an everyday small conversation or a speech given from an elder to the newly christened Samurai? Who knows, but I'd bet something like the latter.

I'm not sure how the va sounds happy or is not in tune with the tone, when the tone of the trailer is making a big announcement and ushering in something. The voice fits that. Oh but I guess it's not Japanese.

Either way, Atlus's dubs of their SMT games have all been fantastic so I see no reason to worry unless you must play it in Japanese. Well then I hope there's some sort of undub thing for you.

I wouldn't say the voice is happy or upbeat, just really overdone.

Besides, it's one voice, and based on the dialogue and footage, it's probably just from the opening dream sequence; let's wait and hear how the actual characters we'll be playing as for 30-60 hours sound, then start complaining.

Virtue's Last Reward had dual audio, and it had plenty of voice acted lines.

The exclusion of Japanese voices has most likely more to do with licensing or cost issues.
