What a bunch of crap. There is no link between violent media on a sane person and causing them to do violent behaviors.
I spent the past week blowing peoples heads off in Bioshock with a spinning blade of doom, does that mean I am going to do it in real life? fudge no. |

Yeah, looks like certain people still don't get that correlation =/= causation. If violent games influenced everyone who plays them, I would've made my own Hidden Blade and started stabbing people after playing Assassin's Creed. Any "young person" who imitates what they saw in a violent game is either too young to play M rated games, or has mental issues that need to be looked at instead of restricting other people's First Amendment right to play violent games if they choose to.
Also, what about violent movies that "glorify" guns? Oh, that's right, she likely got campaign donations from Hollywood. Yep, definitely a bunch of crap. |

To be fair, I'm not willing to say that video games have absolutely no impact on the issue. No, somebody isn't going to go out and start blowing peoples heads off after a few rounds of Call of Duty if you put a gun in their hands, but I do think video games have some role to play in desensitization to violence. Its like, it wont make you want to kill people, but it certainly wears away at the hesitation you would feel to pull the trigger when faced with a human target, since associating the human form with the word 'target' is mentally commonplace.

Soon they'll ban our dreams as well, because some of them are violent. A sane person can separate fiction from reality, I feel sorry for those who can't understand this.

I will say it again, preventing people from getting what they want will not keep them from doing so if they want it bad enough! This is the flaw in your gun control argument. So let's keep those that want to defend themselves from those kinds of people that shouldn't have those weapons from being able to! 2nd Amendment was created the way it was for that reason!
In the case of video games, the only "link" you've made between the violence people cause with these guns and the video games that feature such actions is, at most, theoretical. Ultimately, people decide their own actions, not guns and definitely not video games. |

'Video games affect people.' Um. Guns both save and end lives. No matter where you stand on the issue of guns, I'm pretty sure thats a way bigger effect than video games have. |

I'm eternally grateful anime will never achieve enough status or notability for anyone to blame it on anything. Maybe it's best that anime do stay unnoticed by the mainstream, forever. I rescind my opinion about Hollywood A-listers being in dubs, it's a bad idea.

I really don't think that people who never played a video game in their life have the right to tell others what is good for them or not. but then again, I am an idealist...
[I also think that people who want to shoot at stuff are much less dangerous if they are allowed to do it in a virtual environment than let them grab the first gun available and go to the post office to do a carnage because there ain't no law to restrict gun use in their State - but then again, I am an idealist...] |

i think this person needs her head sorting yes the dark knight rises shootings were bad but those had nothing to do with games that was the movies ok and i play grand theft auto for hours doesn't mean i go out and blow people's heads off afterwards these people should actually go out and ask more then one person what they think before they come to any conclusion

Senator Feinstein is, shall we say, set in her ways. She has invested all her life in controlling others using the power of the US Federal government, normally to the enrichment of select groups of her friends. So any argument that supports greater regulation and laws will be advanced. Like all such schemes it can not last and will not last. Mark Gosdin |

Now, instead of throwing out vague personal anecdotes or ad hominem attacks, why don't we use facts for once. This might surprise you, but video games and violence has been studied a lot, and no correlation has been found. Citations:
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2012/12/data-helps-rebut-the-violent-video-games-cause-shootings-argument/ http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2009/01/study-violence-in-games-not-that-compelling-for-most-gamers/ http://arstechnica.com/uncategorized/2007/02/8887/ http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2007/04/study-finds-stable-personalities-unaffected-by-violent-games/ And these are just a few examples. So why does Senator Feinstein think video games are a problem? Probably because she too has a 'gut feeling' they are. There is not much you can do at this point except vote her out of office (good luck) or put your trust in the Supremes, but maybe making rational arguments might sway a few people. Full discloser: I have my granddad's old Remington 760 down in my basement. It's killed plenty of deer over the years, but never any people.
I fully agree with you. I'm dreading the day some law maker sees an episode of Ikkitousen or Queen's Blade and goes all moral panic on us. Inshallah, it won't be in my lifetime. |

Good luck voting out a Democratic senator in California. She's gonna be untouchable until she leaves the Senate either via retirement or existence-failure.
Things people ought to know: Feinstein was the author of the 1994-2004 Federal Assault Weapons Ban and is a heavy supporter of gun control (unsurprising given her personal experience as witness of the Moscone-Milk assassinations), has supported the PATRIOT Act, COICA and PIPA, the failed 2006 Flag Desecration Amendment, and the PERFORM Act. On the flip side, she's a strong opponent of DOMA, having introduced a bill to repeal it, and authored several acts protecting the environment from excessive development, as well as acts in favor of victims' rights. |

"I don't like violent video games. We should kidnap any deviant who makes one and throw them in the dungeon!"
Somehow, I think there's a stronger link between violence and politics than vidjamathings. |
