Yes, but Tenchi Universe is ONLY the 26-ep. broadcast-TV canon, and seemed to be clean enough for prime-time network. And even then, was on the same cute, if affectionately screwball, family-viewing level as Tokyo. (And Jennifer Darling's take on Ayeka makes the dub good quality enough for those who can't read subtitles.) |

The bath scenes of course. But there is also blood and Ryouko swears a lot. And in one of the Multiuniverse episodes, spoiler[Pretty Sammy casts a spell to make Ryouko and Aeka "friends" but they end up as lesbians instead. ]
Oh hell, no, they are not. Unless you're watching the edited version Toonami did. But the first episode of the uncut dub opens with this: spoiler[Tenchi's creepy friend is talking to him at school after Tenchi woke up mummy!Ryouko and they discuss how girls would never come to an old shrine except for mummies and Tenchi goes silent, thinking about how he saw a real mummy. Then his friend says "Tenchi, what is it? Oh my God, TENCHI, DON'T TELL ME YOU WERE SO DESPERATE THAT YOU SLEPT WITH A MUMMY!?" ......and Tenchi promptly punches him in the face. ]
Whoa, what? O__________o You really think it's appropriate to show an 11-year-old stuff like detailed, nude breasts and Washu offering to take a semen sample from Tenchi with her mouth? *cough cough* NO. Honestly, I think the only Tenchi show appropriate for a kid would be the (awful) Tenchi in Tokyo....but even that one had some nudity in the uncut version, if I'm not mistaken... |

Again: WHY do you keep talking about the OVA series when people talk about the broadcast-TV series? Did you even see the TV series (the one with Kiyone in it on a regular basis)? I know a lot of folks get confused between the two--or think "Universe" must refer to the entire multi-series canon when it doesn't--but just want to get that established. |

o_o Erm, no, I AM talking about that exact broadcast TV series, Universe (know as Tenchi Muyo! TV in Japan). Yes, I mean the one with Kiyone, Mishoshi's partner (who has an amazing English voice actress, I might add) being a regular character. All the girls still take baths regularly so there is still nudity. Ryouko is still a rough-talking space pirate who wants Tenchi in bed (she tells Aeka that Ryo-Ohki is the result of their "love-making" LOL) and there are still lethal enemies thus violence, thus blood. When spoiler[she gets badly injured at the end, you see blood all over her bodysuit and then you see a stream trickle off her hand.] And I've seen Universe several times. Both uncut and cut. And cut is...okay for kids, I guess but you'd have to be really dumb to buy those lazy edits Toonami did....plus the edited version is probably impossible to find by now because everyone prefers the UN-edited version which I really wouldn't recommend to any kid younger than 13. |

Well, um...yes. Washu's lines were toned down in the dub, right? And I highly doubt bare breasts are going to scar an 11-year-old who's probably giggling with his friends and accidentally stumbling upon online MUCH worse. Trust me, I was. Then again, I am the same person who let his brother watch at the age of eight the Ghost Stories dub and FLCL, so maybe I'm not the best at recommending for...average children. |

Mine was at least 10. Not sure if I mentioned yet, but show them Clannad and Kanon, and laugh at their tears. Yeah I am not always a good example. Well I would have done it, if I was not crying also. For the record he loved Baka to Test, although I don't advise it for normal kids. And he loves Yugioh, basically begged to get the collection of the first season himself. |

Not really, no.
Doesn't mean you should just hand such content to them! A responsible adult wouldn't even think of sitting a kid down on the couch, while saying, "Okay, I know you're going to look at it anyway so, HERE, let's watch porn right now together!" (and yeah, while harem anime may not be "porn", you get what I'm saying, right?)
........I would say not. Bad big brother! :[ |

Okay, we've got one poster who's recommending the topless OVA's to 11-yo.'s, and one poster convinced beyond all power of persuasion that the clean mainstream broadcast-TV version is reprehensible porn to corrupt minors.... WHAT'S GOING ON?? |

There's only one OVA with topless nudity, the rest of the series plays it pretty safe. You can see some shots of fanservice from the OVAs here (warning: may not be worksafe depending on where you work). It's non-graphic and non-sexual and only occurs in one OVA. |

If we mention shows with occasional partial nudity but pretty good for kids, Fairy Tail comes to mind. Ignoring the OVAs it tends to be pretty safe, well except the occasional moment like Gray stripping (that sounds even dirtier writing that), or Lucy trying to use her charms. But I don't think there is any blood, or death level violence, outside of tragic past or certain rare parts.
My youngest brother has really been looking forward to more dubs part episode 48, he really enjoyed it. |

.........*bangs head on wall* FOR THE LAST FREAKIN' TIME. I wasn't talking about the "clean mainstream broadcast-TV version! AND
EricJ, this is really starting to get tiring. You clearly don't read my posts at all. I'd swear that you glance at them and then accuse me of saying false things because you simply didn't take the time to look at the context. @partysmores: There is nudity in Tenchi Universe, the 26 episode TV series as well because of the bath scenes. But even if you remove that, there's still plenty of content that is inappropriate for preteen kids; innuendo, blood, language, etc. Harem anime is not for kids and they should not be watching it. You can't convince me otherwise. |

Alright, let's move away from harem anime.
Seconding Fairy Tail and adding Bleach to recommendations for ages 10+; I know quite a few kids who watch Bleach on Toonami; most episodes range between TV-PG and TV-14, the worst you'll hear is a "Damn!" or "You bastard!". The fights sometimes get intense, but I don't think I've seen blood at all in the last couple of episodes. |

Show her A Little Snow Fairy Sugar! Its really cute, and you can rent it off Netflix! I also think that she should watch Nurse Witch Komugi, Azumanga Dioh, and even if it is subtitled, I'd try FushigiBoshi no FutagoHime, (the Twin Princesses of Mysterious Star) and FushigiBoshi no FutagoHime Gyu! I'm sure she'd get a laugh out of Fine and Rein! Oh, and have u tried Princess Tutu? Its so beautiful, even if all the characters have ridiculously long eyelashes.
