I think the brief appearance of the F40 in Girls und Panzer will just make car fans wince.
The Corvette Stingray makes an appearance in the third (i think) opening title sequence of Space Brothers, which was apt as it was very much the Astronaut's Car Of Choice back in the day. |

Telling people to put a Shelby Cobra in a garage is like telling Baby to sit in the corner.
Not. Going. To. Happen. That car's all about ego, and only little old ladies store it in a garage... unless they're teaching young punks about the real rules of the road. |

Can't believe those other ones lost out to Jewelpets in the poll.
Oh Japan, probably the world's most expensive car pile up (8 Ferraris, 3 Mercedes-Benzes and a Lamborghini involved in a 14-car pile-up in Japan): |

Although I'm not interested in cars, this is a real good one. This would make a real good segment on either the American or British versions of "Top Gear." And,I think it would also attract more people to anime. Forgive me for going off subject but although I've seen "Gunsmith Cats,"I haven't seen "Riding Bean" although they both seem like good ones to me.

About 1966 a friend of mine had a Shelby 350GT Mustang. I rode in it a couple of times and I find it hard to imagine what it must have been like with the larger engine. He ended up trading it in when winter came. He couldn't afford tires that would make it pratical to use in snow.

I'd thought Kiyama's Lamborghini Gallardo from A Certain Scientific Railgun would have made the List but I guess it's not exotic enough or it's more of a supporting character than a cameo. Still, try figuring out how a research scientist in a city of research scientists owns one.

I don't know why, but I was expecting to see the Mach 5 on this list. XD

And no Magic Knight Rayearth cars were mentioned on this list... oh, wait. They're just characters named after cars, many of which aren't really exotic anyway.

I would sell my organs on the black market if I knew there would be a Shelby GT waiting for me at the end of the ordeal. I love that car more than I could love a human baby. It's perfect and beautiful and just DAMN.

What about the Alpine Renault A310 that Misato has in Evangelion???!! Probably one of the most exotic cars shown in all of anime...

Goddamn, Cleopatra DC, and Desert Rose likely all had extremely exotic sports cars, I haven't seen them recently enough to say for sure, but they definitely had some. Makes sense, since Kaoru Shintani (Area 88) penned them all.

Honestly, I think you should've gone with your gut on this one and made the Cobra #1. There's no other car in all of anime outside of the Mach 5 that is more wanted and pined over.

Yeah, you really can't go wrong with Rally's Shelby Mustang. Although I did have to wince a little bit seeing it get smashed to various degrees over the course of the story. Also, I recall that on the Gunsmith Cats DVD, one of the extras showed how the producers actually got their hands on one (not an easy task in Japan!) simply to record the sound of the engine under full power. That was a nice touch. |
