I'm not a United Kingdomer, but does this company routinely dub things, or mainly sub-only?

MVN doesn't produce it's own dubs. If it licenses a title that already has a dub, it will utilize that. It's sublicensed several series from Sentai, and has released some series with dubs produced in the US. |

there is no listed price nor does it say it has a dub? are you talking about not having a DVD release? Please stop buying anime DVDs unless they are older shows. |

I hope this is sarcasm. Because America gets the pick of the bunch when it comes to international licensing and distribution, and it gets things faster than other places too. The rest of the world (bar select Asian countries) are envious of you guys.
I hate this snobbish attitude. Anime on DVD looks and sounds perfectly nice, so there's no need for you to say that people shouldn't buy DVDs of new shows. No need at all. |

YES. I had given up hope of being able to get both of these shows on BD so I couldn't be happier!
I can't play American BDs so I hope to god that the American companies never decide to release shows on BD only. Besides, anime looks fine on DVD as well so what's the problem? |

my friend, DVDs have been out over 10 years
if you do not know what interlacing is you have no right to lecture people on what looks 'perfectly fine' modern LCD screens do NOT need interlacing this is not a discussion or an argument it is a simple scientific fact. anyway, conceding to buy DVDs has far greater implications what I am concerned about is the future of anime if you are happy with DVD quality that is fine, but blu-ray players are not expensive anymore so that is not an excuse. that only leaves the question, is the title available in both formats? if you keep buying the cheap DVDs the answer will be, no. as to why you would want a down-scaled version of Nisemonogatari, I really dont know. Just watch it officially online @ crunchyroll or crackle if it's there, it will look better and it's free to watch...
well, I really can't comment on 'importing' from the English market but if you live in Europe why can't you just buy the European version? I also don't see how you can play american DVDs legitimately, you would have had to change the region just the same as you would with a blu-ray player. |

Didn't I just say that I was going to buy the European version? And I have a region free DVD player so I can play American DVDs just fine. My BD player however is not region free and I can't make it region free (believe me, I've tried) and getting a BD player that can play everything is just too expensive. |

If you think Bakemonogatari in SD is comparable to the proper version, you should probably get your eyes checked. Edit: not that you should be vilified for watching the DVD version, of course.
My region-free Blu-Ray player was about a hundred and thirty bucks, I love it. |

This is great news. Hanabee (the licensor in Australia) isn't releasing a blu-ray version, so I was all set to pass on the title, since the only exporting store for the US version of the title is RightStuf, and I refuse to shop with them because of their draconian international shipping policy. So a UK Blu-Ray release sits nicely with me.
Now only if they'd release Gosick on Blu-Ray as well. |

Superb news.
This will also be priced accordingly with the UK market rather than Aniplex USA's silly price scheme, so that's brilliant. The fact that it's both DVD and BD is great, since here in the UK, anime on DVD outsells BD by a shed load. You can debate all day "why would people buy an SD product when the show was produced in HD", but those are the facts, and it's about giving people the option rather than the silly 'elitist' attitude some people have for whatever reason. As for dub, of course it will not have one. MVM sub-license and use the materials provided, be that from the US license holder or another sub-license holder (Manga UK regularly use MADMAN in Australia). Either way, superb news. People can now enjoy both shows without being restricted by silly price schemes, which in the US, have meant many anime fans simply can not afford the show, and are missing out on a gem of a title. |

While I do primarily buy blu-rays these days, I really only notice the improvement in live action. I understand that many people can see the difference, but I just don't notice a huge upgrade from DVD with animation.

I'd already imported Bakemonogatari to the UK when they announced this so I'm kinda bummed I didn't hold off, totally wasn't expecting a UK release, especially on blu-ray. They did say Bakemonogatari will likely be released in two sets over here, so paying the extra for a nice collectors box isn't all that bad. Just waiting on the price details etc before deciding which version of Nisemonogatari to go for now
