Great news indeed! Seeing that they already have 3/4 material available for an anime second season (based on published manga volumes), I wouldn't be surprised if it's produced, and possibly more. Would be nifty if Maon Kurosaki did the ending songs if season two is made, as she did with season one. I thought it was an interesting way to do the end credits, and was a great introduction to her music. Also liked how all the end songs were on her H.O.T.D. album.

I don't think there's nearly enough for another 12 episodes. You have the mall arc and then them walking for a few chapters, so that's maybe 5 or 6 episodes tops, with slow pacing. Real exciting, right? Don't tell me they can just make stuff up either, remember Claymore?

Considering how closely the first anime season followed the manga (Volumes 1-4), I guess we might need to wait for a few more manga volumes to be published first before a possible second anime season, then. I haven't read Volumes 5-7 yet, so I wasn't sure as to how much action they contained. I've waited this long for the hiatus to end; I can wait a while longer. With luck, we might even see a second colour omnibus.

I counter with Drifters of the Dead OVA.

Can you fill the rest of the season with unrelated comedy like that?

That's just filler, though, and doesn't really interfere with canon to the point that anyone is worried about reintegrating the plot later.
