Offering little gifts is always the best way to drive nerds to do shit. Like a mini-nendo of Nurse Miku you can only get by donating. Suddenly 100,000 otaku travel across Japan to donate.

Gotta love that last picture at the bottom of the article with a nice panty shot, always classy. It's funny that they're trying to pull in the otaku crowd, I mean are Cheetos clogged bloodcells (or whatever the Japanese equivalent is) really what they should be shooting for in blood donations?

Arteries clog, blood doesn't. Unless you've got diseases or other blood-related issues, I'm not sure your current health makes too much of a difference. Besides, fat nerds would be less common in Japan than America, fattening stuff is more expensive there.

I was going for an easy cut and you dash my dreams on the rocks man. I know all that stuff but I was blatantly ignoring it for an easy jab...oh well, there's always next time.

Japan knows that otaku blood is the safest blood.

That said, I wouldn't mind giving blood again if I could get something like that. All I got was a cookie and this terrible pain in my arm. Oh we'll, at least I got to keep the bandage. ;p

Well, the Red Cross does require you to be healthy.
"Each donor receives a brief examination during which temperature, pulse, blood pressure and hemoglobin (or hematocrit) are measured."
Particularly eating prior an iron-rich diet and avoid fatty foods.
"(Fatty foods can affect the tests we do on your blood. If there is too much fat in your blood, your donation cannot be tested for infectious diseases and the blood will not be used for transfusion.)"

I don't laugh at people doing the right thing (like guys spending cash to wear pink T-shirts for breast cancer fundraisers), but as they say, God gave man a brain and a penis but only enough blood to run one at a time, so let's hope Nurse Miku doesn't take too much off Red Cross' share. Smile

U poor baby; Try getting about 2 dozen anthrax shots over the years, and then you can come back to me and complain about a sore arm. Oh yeah, many of those shots were just one of many shots administered at the same time.

On the promotion, pretty enterprising, and I'm sure it will boost donations.

They do. Ya wouldn't believe the swag I've seen people walked away with from Red Cross donations in univ. Some even provocative ones. Laughing
