Read the VN. Loved the VN. Would most definitely watch an animated adaptation.

It would be very hard to adapt all the routes due to how connected all the routes are.
But I would love to see an anime of this and it would greatly benefit from one due to all the action scenes in it that would be so much better in the anime.

I haven't played the VN. Is there an english patch yet? I will have to check.

I would watch as long as they don't butcher it like they did with Little Busters.

Honestly I don't think "butcher" is the proper word. They followed it fairly well, but I couldn't imagine how they would've adapted, and still can't, to keep it faithful to the VN properly. LBs, like Rewrite, had a lot of minor things in each route that linked together in the overall plot. I wouldn't expect much from any company except KyoAni since they have a lot of good experience at changing things in ways that actually work. I wanted LBs anime to follow the game as much as possible, and they mostly have..but they chose a lot of things to adapt that I wouldn't have chosen, things I think they were mistaken in choosing. Sometimes being literal isn't the best option.

English patch is going rather quick last time I checked..but not complete.

The English Patch was completed a couple weeks ago. I started it then and its pretty good so far. Not Little Busters or Clannad level, but thats to be expected since its not Jun Maeda writing it anymore.. but still very enjoyable.

I'd be okay with White Fox doing it as well. They did the anime OP for the game itself:

And they've shown with Steins;Gate, they can adapt VNs well.

Please it is be Kyoani if anyone, they give those games justice. J.C staff is doing a decent job but some things are just not good choices at all. I just hope they can expand on Refrain, the parts that were MIA in the VN. If not Kyoani, White Fox would be a good choice too.

I've read a version of the manga before and enjoyed it. I haven't played the VN yet but definitely looking forward to this if it becomes a reality.

Meanwhile, his thoughts on a hypothetical Planetarian movie: nobody but him wants to make it.

tbh, I don't feel having kyoani for rewrite is a good idea. Though they have proven that they can do some pretty amazing fight scenes in chuunibyou, they tend to overly moefy things. So far its been ok but Rewrite has a much more darker plot meaning it should not be moefied.

It would be interesting to see how it could be adapted. Maybe a structure like higurashi could work but it seems a bit too precedented which could make it lack originality which is a problem seen in the current little busters anime.

Oh man, I would really love a Planetarian OVA/movie.

Not sure on Rewrite, I haven't gotten to it yet.

I'll second a Planetarian movie. The first thing out of my mouth when I had finished that game was 'this needs a movie'.

Rewrite anime huh. I'm not opposed to the idea, Rewrite has lots of action scenes that would look excellent animated, especially spoiler[Shizuru vs Lucia from the end of the Lucia route], but I can see them having a whole lot off issues.

The problem with these post-Clannad Key games having all of the routes come full circle and relate to each other in some way is that it makes the story really hard to tell in a linear format. This is especially true for Rewrite, considering how frequently spoiler[the world ends.]

I agree, White Fox, have proven that they can adapt VNs well too.

I find this interesting since we just had a whole column dedicated to Key's creations and the concept behind "moe".
