Over the last few months (crossing back to mid last year even) Youtube has continually issued out new rules and limitations for their videos. The 100 MB limit has always been there but they went from unlimited times to only 15 mins and then to 10 mins. Apparently it was an unknown attempt to curb the users from uploading full episodes (of anime as well as other cartoons). But nnow according to the friends I had before my own account was terminated, they have outwright marked anime as innapropriate. Recently another user had all of his YYH episodes removed because they were marked as "innapropriate" (not as copywright infringement mind you). They have even gone as far as removing AMV's and marking them as "innapropriate" as well.
This is unfair that they are specifcally targeting anime users instead of the billions of other users that upload music videos (some of which are feature in thier top videos section) or tothers that put commercials up there as well.
If you were to look now yes you would indeed find some videos remaining, but i'm sure it is just a matter of time before they are taken off as well, being that some of my friends had an enourmous amount of their videos removed if not then their entire accont terminated (to save time most likely) this is IMO just another form of discrimination against anime. I don't know why they choose to target the anime abusers instead of the millions of other abusers up there. Why can't they leave anime alone.

A lot of the series on youtube were already licensed, so I think that may have something to do with it. I still watch a lot of anime on youtube, and they still have full episodes of Pita Ten, Mermaid Melody, and other unlicensed series I like so it doesn't really affect me. There are other, better sites to go to for fansubs. They even have a couple of licensed series, like Loveless. I don't really think they're "discriminating" against anime fans, I think the people monitoring the site are catching on that fansubs are ILLEGAL.

I think I already said that if you were to look now you would find videos remaining but considering my account and the accounts of my friends that remain, my claims have weight on them. If you had check a week ago you would have found golddragon's YYH episodes and his Chobits videos as well as other full length episodes that were there. Its a crackdown not a wave.

As long as you can get it through the screening process , but sometimes you click on one and it says this video has been removed for content, instead of copywright infringement. Thats the problem. If it was that we (including myself) were actually breaking the license laws and they were removing vids for that it'd be different, but my problem is that they see them as innapropriate and they shouldn't be allowed up there because of that instead of saying yea we are posting up vids we don't own. But then you look at the music vids up there and go WTF???

Hmm. Interesting.
I've been watching anime on You Tube for quite a while now. I've noticed when I click on one AMV or episode of anime, it says inappropriate, but when I click on another file that's the exact same thing just uploaded by a different person, it shows just fine.
I guess if it is a ban, its not a very wide scale ban. Its actually more of a regulation than an actual ban.
I hope they don't do much more "regulating." I really enjoy watching anime on You Tube. I actually watch anime on You Tube to learn too. I've learned quite a few words in the Japanese language just by watching You Tube.

the same stuff is still there,,, not that it should be, but it is.
i don't understand where you're getting this ban idea from. the reason people are splitting big files isn't cause of regulations, it's cause it's a pain in the ass to upload.

Is there an official link to You Tube's page or any other reliable source to back-up your claim?
Sorry if I'm hessitant to believe you but you have no concrete evidence and people seem to be contradicting you. I even did a search myself w/ my crappy dial-up and found many anime and none said "innappropriate"

It's like I said in my previous post.
I think its probably more of a regulation than an actual ban.
I go on there and sometimes see 5 or 6 different uploads of the same anime series. I just think they are cutting down because they probably don't need that many.

Yeah, um, there's still a ****load of anime on there. What's this nonsense about a ban?

You're telling me.

I'm sure they do... not.

Maybe the reason the episodes were taken down is because IT'S ILLEGAL TO DOWNLOAD ANIME, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S BEEN LICENSED. Go buy a DVD if you want to see Chobits so bad.

It's not a crackdown. It's called OBEYING THE LAW. But you wouldn't know that, now would you? Stop complaining, because you obviously don't even know what you're complaining about.

When I clicked on the page to the IGPX eding theme. It said that it was marked inappropiate. MAbey Youtube shouldn't be banning anime videos from being viewed on youtube.com
However, I'm still able to watch the first subbed Bleach episode on youtube.

You don't actually "download" anything from youtube the same way you do with regular fansubber release (unless you go through the trouble of learning how). Youtube stream video in real time, so it's convenient for those that don't want to spend 10-20 min finding and downloading episode, they can watching it right away as it's being stream. Nevertheless, it is copyright infringement, and against their policy.
I enjoy watching old vintage/rare clips on youtube. I hope the anime community that are uploading whole episode of anime and live drama don't ruin it for the rest of us.

If they really do believe anime to all be innappropriate, but let people upload all those pornographic webcam videos (no matter how hot they are), they're a bunch of biased hypocrites.
