The three Season Boxsets cover the whole Series at 94 episodes total. The Meiji Era Boxset is just the Fancy expensive version of the Third season box. It's definately cheaper to just go with the economy boxes, though.

Rurouni Kenshin was originally released in 22 individual volumes and then in 2004 (I think) it was re-released in box sets. It was later re-released in different cheaper box sets.
The Premium Boxes are the earlier more expensive ones. You probably only see the Premium box for the Meiji Era because everyone bought the ones for the first two seasons but nobody wanted to pay that kind of money for the third season.

Nicely put. Those expensive releases are also known as the "Bento Boxes". My friend bought the first season Bento Box, and he was so upset when he opened it. Each volume comes in a slip like cover, Horrible for a release so expensive.
The economy boxes, the most recent releases, might be the cheapest price for any of the seasons, box set or individual volumes.

Yes!
Im a big Kenshin fan but the price tag of the Premium Boxes doesnt justify its contents! Although you dont get the slip cases in the economy box, the DVD's are the same.

I love those small economy box containers. i'm torn between them and the cardboard ones used for the 12 Kingdoms economy boxes. The mastering on the Kenshin discs are indeed the same as the previous complete with old trailers, outtakes, wonderful DVD notes, and that interesting fan art contest. Despite this, I wish they would remaster these DVDs since I feel as though the series has one of the worst transfers in my collection.
