I recently heard from a friend that they were going to come out with a new season of Gantz i hope they do because it is one of my favorite series.I just hope you guys can tell me if it is true?

If your friend claims this but Anime News Network hasn't announced anything, then it's not true. Either your friend is a blatant liar, or he meant there's a second season of the manga coming (I don't know if there is or not). All I know is, if they do make a second season of the anime, they'd better give it a better ending than what we got.

The "second season" of Gantz is considered to be episodes 14-26, so if your friend heard about a "second season," it already exists.

Zalis is correct. Let us break it down shall we. Gantz has 26 episodes. That is a total of two seasons 13 episodes per season. So in a technical sense your friend is right. Though maybe many months out of date.
Now if your referring to a new Gantz series. Which mind you it has to happen. Since the last Gantz series arced. In other words all the characters in the original series climaxed, and the main characters resolved. So if anything you would need a new set of characters atleast. I suppose it is just a rumor. Rumors are funny things sometimes they are true. Most of the time they are not. They are usually based on seventh hand knowledge. Like a game of telephone. Afterall in the end everyone knows someone who knows someone. Unless your in the CIA then that someone gets liquidated. The point being is yes loose ships are out there, and secrets do not stay secrets very long. Now that is not to say companies often spread disinformation, and start rumors for their own gain. Nor do devious individuals fire out rumors to see how many people they can suck in. I personally never say a rumor is false. I hate to eat crow. I personally am not going to just bite either. I just file such things away, and if someones rumors more often are right on then I give them more credence. Either way you look at it there is nothing to get hyped about. Unless you plan anime purchases years in advance. First a series would have to air in japan. Then a long time from now it will make it to dvd. Then you will have to wait a long time for that series to make it to thinpack. Seriously its a painfully slow process. Now that all depends on whether any such series if it infact gets made is any good. In other words why the heck do you need a rumor. |

I haven't heard anything about the thinpack for the "2nd Season" coming out yet. I hope it's true casue I've been waiting for the 2nd thinpack since the first was announced. Doesn't the ending of Gantz pretty much kill any possibility of a second season. I don't only mean by how the story ended but also how horrible the ending was. |

You didn't read the replies, did you? The second season is episodes 13-26. It's already out. The person who started this thread is asking if there's a second series (that's what he means by "season"). There isn't. Also, who said anything about a thinpak of this nonexistant series? There has never been any news of a second anime series. |

In other words look at darkhunters post. darkhunter knew exactly what I meant. IMO Gantz' new season, which according to ADV would be Season 3, can be ranked up there with a new season, according to Media Blaster's Season 2, of Berserk. Not any time soon or possibly ever. First off, yeah the K's reference was uncalled for and I edited my post. I guess I was just a little pissed because most of Alex's remarks I've seen sounds like he's a know-it-all smart ass. I just hadn't said anything because none had been directed towards me, until now so I just replied. And yeah I am psychic...
To Alex, my bad. Maybe next time we can just PM each other. I deleted the original post and took off the "insults"... man it had been a long time since I insulted anybody. Back on topic... isn't this topic done for? I mean the original poster got his reply that there has not been a new season announced and most of us believe that his friend probably just mistaked the ADV 2nd season thinpack as a new season. But maybe something will get announced in the next week.... |

spoiler[Gantz kills everybody in the entire series including all the main characters. There's basicly zero chance of sequel.] A spinoff maybe with a new cast but I after watching the series I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. |

Okay ignore kruszar he obviously never understood the ending of Gantz. Sad to say but alot of people do not get it then go the blowhard route. They often wanted the series to be something its not. Gantz was never going to have a cuddly ending on it period. That is contrary to the whole series.
spoiler[Kurono actually is alive. I can go through all the little details that add up to this, but quite frankly am not going to waste the time. The entire train scene is about kurono makeing a choice. Whether he will choose to live, or go with his friends that are dead. This is why he turns and faces the train, and says I am going to live. It is not a forgone hope. It is a choice.] You know one of these days I am going to spend the time and energy makeing out a giant post that explains the entire series, and how it adds up to the conclusion. Then I am going to use it as a reference to anyone who is confused by the ending. Back to the main point thoughspoiler[Yeah it would have to be a second series. This may sound like a dumb question, I just skimmed through the earlier posts, since I haven't seen this yet. So I did not want it to be runied. However, I plan to buy this and it says on the dvd boxset that it is season one, so this isn't the whole series?

No. They split the 26 eps into two seasons; for what reason is beyond me. Perhaps that is the way it was broadcast (season one, then season one reruns before season two?). So when you go to purchase it, it won't be the whole thing. I think someone posted the second season box will be out in July (US). |
