License not Found... Damn, can anyone else watch this? I wouldn't mind seeing what all the hoopla is about on this series

Worked fine for me--are you using WMP 9 or 10?

I always thought that If there was no licence WMP automatically downloads it for you. At least that's what mine always does. It was pretty interessting stylistically. I can't speak Japanese though and there was no subtitles for it so I had no clue what any characters where talking about:(.

I'm using 10 but it still front end loaded and locked up to many times for it to be of any use. I didn't like the art style. Too much like paper cut outs to me.

I wish I knew what they were saying. Looks interesting though. Whats up with the two girls?
Hey if someone would put a little synopsis up that would be great |

Yeah, version 10 I have. But still nothing. Oh well, if it didn't have any subs then I guess I didn't miss out on much

Wikipedia has a small item on XXXHOLC, but it pertains to the manga. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xxxholic |

[Just because it's on that site doesn't make it any less against the rules to advertise it here. Don't do it again. -Nagi]

I can't log onto it either but if it's the two little girls who are at Yuko's side, they are shikigami I think or some other sort of magical servant. |

First Note, i'm not really giving much away about the series below, you should check out either the Wikipedia Article or ANN.com's Encyclopedia article to get a better plot then what I'm about to go into. But some people may consider them spoilers, so be warned.
OK, I have really mixed feelings with this Anime after watching it since I was a big fan of the manga. And as much as I like the idea of "adding extra content to a show to make it more interesting or to fill time", they really took some liberties with the Anime (which somewhat changes the plot and crucial ideas of the series), here's a couple things to point out: * How Mokona is introduced into the series. In the Manga, he isn't introduced until the 3 from the other worlds are transported to their [Watanuki/Yuko's] world (end of book 1). In the Anime, he is introduced when Yuko is looking for a "drinking buddy". * Watanuki goes shopping/Passing Sprits. In the Manga, anytime Watanuki goes shopping alone, it's not something that is important to the storyline (at least in the first Several Volumes). But in the Anime, when he goes shopping, Mokona is already introduced and goes with him. Watanuki Also sees the evil spirits when shopping and see one "passed" onto another person and the mention of "if you wish for it, you get both the good part and the hardship alike". This is not in the manga because while they show the sprits decreasing, it is due to OTHER things and NOT being passed off to others. * Watanuki leaves. The Anime has him leaving as if he is willing to live with having the evil sprits follow him as long as they don't get passed to others and basically abandoning his "wish". But then shows him going back to "get his money". Not the same. I do suggest you watch another version, (i won't mention names), but some notes you may come across depending on where you see it: * "Hitzuzen" is not really the same as "inevitable". It really means more along the lines of "pre-destined" and "fate". So it's really more of a comparision of Long Term vs Short Term. It can be argued as being similar, but "Hitzuzen" has more meaning behind it. A Good Definition from the "Be With You Scans" version of the Manga (Fan Translated) is "Hitzuzen: refers to an event that would definentely happen. Without it, nothing is possible. From one thing, you see, many other things can be imagined." * In the manga, Yuko is referred to as "mistress" instead of "master" by Maru/Moro. And now the popular question for anyone who hasn't seen the series before or read the Manga: Explaination of Maru/Moro's name. I think a certian poster's explaination is the best:
Now there other notes that are mentioned in the manga and gives a little more background about them, but since episode one is all we have, it's not important. For Now just consider them peppy assistants with a very child-like mentality (they love to make fun of Watanuki if you couldn't tell already). |

Oh, but you just have to give it another shot! It gets really interesting and dark. |

Funnily enough, that's what makes it so distinctive and art deco in the manga. |

What the heck? Stick around for a while and post some more before you start quoting teh rules. And yes, it was kind of a pain to watch without subtitles. I've only done that a couple of times, but in the other ones the artwork kept me occupied the whole episode. Not so in this one, imo.
^^Agreed... |

He wasn't talking about the news item. He was referring to something else. Believe it or not, I actually do know what the thread's about. |
