With the exception of Gundam Wing and G Gundam, what is an anime with solely American characters? I'd hadn't really seen anime with just American characters or American-based ones; I've seen animes with German, French, English, etc. main characters, but not anime with just main characters.

For the record, none of the characters in Gundam Wing are American. To answer your question, Mio in DN Angel is an American transfer student who speaks in random Engrish and Fake takes place in New York and revolves around New York police detectives, but it's a shounen-ai series and only one OVA was made based on the manga.

I'm not sure I know of any anime with only american characters but I know ones with main characters which are american...

One Famous one is Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Batou is a Former Ranger of the United States military. spoiler[He say so when they he was a part of that special ops mission with the crazy admiral.]

Also, I believe in Blood the last Vampire there are a number of American Military guys who were supporting Characters.

Uh, in Those who Hunt Elves (1 and 2), Airi Komiyama is said to be "from hollywood." Though she might actually be Japanese, and just live/work in holywood. I was never clear on that subject myself...

In all the Street Fighter anime, Ken is an American heir to a large multinational corporation. Though he studies Karate primarily in Japan, he was born and raised in the US and lives there as a citizen.

I can't think of any others off the top of my head right now, but there are a ton of anime that shows american characters. However they are usually potrayed to be blumbering idiots, such as in Samurai Champloo, or as the easy to nuke war-mongerers in Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2nd GIG...

Oh, and The 5 Gundam pilots where not Americans, though they are thought to be, they are from the colonies which is explained to be nuetral space (not under any one nation's control) untill the Earth Sphere Alliance brought weapons into outerspace and unified the colonies under their banners. Also, when they move to the earth, they take up refuge in the Sanc kingdom which is thought to be like Switzerland, not USA.

Duo is American.

Afraid not.
Duo was from the colonies like everyone else, the colonies have no citizenship with the earth, and as such no vote. spoiler[Hence the reason for Project Meteor in the first place (the real project meteor, see the last few episodes). Also, durring Zeck's war with the Earth he explains the fact that the colonies dispise this world that they have never been a part of, this shows how the colonies never had a nationality.]. Also, you may be thinking of the engineer that Duo teams up with, but in either case, they never state his nationality, only that he spoiler[was a engineer for OZ that built the first Gundam, The Talgeese, with the other 5 engineers.]

IIRC, one of the girls from a later season of Ojamajo Doremi is American. Momoko, I think?

I'm surprised no one here has mentioned Fatal Fury. Terry Bogard is American and the main character. As a matter of fact, there are very few Japanese characters in the game and anime.

Also, in Pani Poni Dash!, Becky, the main character, is half-American.

Chrono Crusade takes place in 1920's USA and almost every character is American. There are a few German charcters and lots of demons (who of course can't be american) but overall it's a predominantly American cast.

The truly terrible Mad Bull 34 is set in New York City. All of the characters in the show are American. The "everyman" character for Japanese audiences is a Japanese American.

In Cyborg 009, Joe Shimura (009) is half-American. Also, 002 is full-American as well.

That makes no sense. He's talking about race, not citizenship. That's like saying Wufei isn't Chinese because he's from a colony.

Heero's Japanese, Duo's American, Trowa's Latin American, Quatre's Arabic, and Wufei's Chinese.

Taste it.

Eureka 7, allthough on another planet, is definitely set within an American-like culture.
