YES BUDDY DO IT!!!

The routes not done by him in Little Busters weren't as good as the routes in Clannad. It wasn't until Refrain when you felt the good stuff. Not to mention when he did Saya's route, she became one the favorite characters of the series. Haven't played Rewrite yet, but heard it was missing something.

Now for the Angel Beats VN, which will be a huge amount better than the anime (obvious pacing issues here).

YES! LAnything that man touches turns to gold as far as I'm concerned, so this news pleases me greatly (I love AB, dont think there was anything wrong with the pace). Dunno if it will be the Angel Beats VN this time around, the wording of the article is very 'maybe, we'll see', and an AB VN would basically demand Maeda's attention considering his role in the anime.

I disagree that Rewrite is 'missing something' so much as its just different. There's to much weird stuff in there for it to read like a regular Key game, but it gets by based on its own merits from what I've seen so far (Common route + Kotori, Shizuru, Chihaya and half of Lucia). Only complaint I really have is that the common route can get a little draggy.

If Maeda is doing the writing/series composition, hopefully he does a better job of it than with Angel Beats!. Lots of great themes that were poorly handled, far too many characters, backstories that broke suspension of disbelief, rushed plot developments at the end. The man has impressive talent and interesting ideas, but he needs to have someone standing at his shoulder keeping him focused.

I believe (I may be wrong) that the episode number for Angel Beats! was cut or something like that.

Yeah, Angel Beats was given the short end of the stick in production, or so I've heard.

Anyway, I hope Maeda will go for this! I'm about the biggest Maeda groupie you can imagine and I love almost everything he's done, but his Key stories have a special place in my heart. They may seem maudlin to some but I find them so powerful and haunting! He's wonderful and Key is making a big mistake if they don't try to hang onto him!

Everything I've seen suggests that it was planned as a one-cour show from the get-go. (Aniplex rarely funds original works that are longer than one-cour anyway, and particularly a few years ago when this aired. P.A.Works also had not yet produced a two-cour project at that point.) As I recall, some interviews suggested that the author just kept on getting more ideas as he kept writing. There was talk at one point of possibly making a game to flesh it all out further, but nothing came of it (as Maeda stepped back at that point).

Angel Beats was from the start planned to be a franchise that spans various multimedia. The anime is just a part of the story. Whereas the Track Zero novels (also written by Maeda) let the reader know of the start of the Battlefront and what set off the conflict with Angel. There are also plenty of manga which give more info on several side characters and such.

Just a note Maeda is working on the VN version of Angel Beats! they just have no date and nothing to cause clamor about a release date. Clannad was due to come out in 2002 an was delayed until 2004. So any progress is still vague.
