I love L'Arc en Ciel...the only group I've actually paid for an import cd (Igenerally just get soundtracks) but yeah they are good enough for me to buy their music

Do As Infinity is my favorite Japanese band, no doubt about it. I idolize Van Tomiko. <3
I like Ayumi Hamasaki as well (largely because she works with DAI, lol) but only because some of her music is fun. Other than that, she seems kinda fake to me.

I think I'm spotting a trend here.
L'arc~en~ciel is VERY good. It's also nice to see that they haven't broken up as they have another album due for release in (I think) March.

for anime soundtracks i only have one favorite: Yoko Kanno! i'm actually listening to a track done by her as i write this (inner universe-full version-from GitS:Stand Alone Complex)
J-pop anime? i'd say L'arc en Ciel. i also liked Hitoru no Yoru, the 2nd opening theme from GTO, which was done by uh ... Porno Graffiti?
by the way, does anyone have recommendations?

Money down, the one I say is the best is Megumi Hayashibara. Not only is she one amazing singer, but she's done countless anime voice roles. Megumi's songs have had a huge impact on me, just the way she sings and the music on most of her songs just make me dance sometimes (everytime). You ask me who I think is the best (just my opinion though), it's Megumi all the way!

Lately I've been into Yaida Hitomi, but my favorites are Hamasaki Ayumi and GLAY (Mmm, Jiro). I love the fun jumpy songs.
Do As Infinity is really pretty too, I like them alot.

well...the most j-pop i hear is from pop.japan.tv, a t.v. show that airs here. it shows parts of j-pop videos and shows interviews with artists and live footage and stuff.
i've seen like...three ken hirai videos, and they were all nice. the newest song, "life is.." is really cool. the video's neat too. he always has interesting videos...
i like utada hikaru and ayumi hamasaki. no songs in particular. but, i really live the piano version of automatic by hikki, and the first love string mix too. yee!

Good pull. Megumi is my favorite Seiyuu/singer.
Let me add Do As Infinity and Hikaru Utada to my list of favorites as well as Mai Kuraki. L'arc~en~ciel is still my fav of all favs though.
