I've always have been bothered with Media Blasters poor video transfers. Although digital artifacts can be found to some degree on DVDs from most companies, Media Blasters have a unique problem on my current set up. On even intervals (about once a second) the image flickers a bit lighter. This is most notable in darker scenes. I first noticed this on the Kenshin discs, and was hoping that it would have been fixed on the economy rereleases. This of course didn't happen since the new discs are off the same master, not that it would have mattered, since the flicker can be seen on the newly released Phantom. Does this problem bother anyone else as much as it annoys me, or is it my current set up that makes it more noticable? I'm still using a Sony interlaced CRT with a really good contrast ratio, but will make the switch to a LCD progressive soon, which might make a difference. I've decided that the losing a bit of contrast will be worth going to a 1080p image and a few more inches.

Hmm, have a few Media Blasters titles and have never had any such issue although my Figure 17 DVD's has sound issues on my old player but not on any other player or on my new player so I'm not sure what the deal was there, of course there were a few other DVD's of mine that had a similar problem.

On a side note I just noticed that their release of Invader Zim has their anime works logo on it, which I find somewhat amusing since it's not anime.

I took a glance at Sentimental Journey and Seraphim Call, and I didn't notice that flickering problem. Then again, this is on PowerDVD on my computer, not my main DVD / TV setup. Those two series are a bit old and don't have the best video in the first place. However, I'm more concerned with Media-Blasters' clunky .srt-style subtitles that can't display more than two lines at the bottom of the screen. Not to mention poor editing--I'd expect a fansub to say, "it was my parent's* anniversary," but I think that the professionals should be able to get it right and say "it was my parents' anniversary." If this topic lasts awhile, I'll look at Figure 17 and Shrine of the Morning Mist, as those are the only other MB DVDs I have.

*saying "parent's" means that it's the anniversary of only one parent, whereas "parents' " means that it's the anniversary of both parents.

I'm amazed at how many ignorant retailers believe Zim to be a Japanese cartoon. Even the almighty Suncoast has it on their anime shelves. I mean, you'd think Avatar would be the Nick show to be in the anime section, but no, it's this Zim show which doesn't look one bit like anime.
