Nice to see Berserk selling over 5,000 copies. I hope to see this increase, but I know most of the sales are within the first few weeks of release.
Anything to continue with more Berserk Anime. I am very curious to see/hear what happens next with the franchise, after the conclusion of the 3rd film in February.
On a side note, the Japanese sure do love their Pixar films!

Not really that's actually pretty bad numbers for what they usually pull >_> 2012 was a pretty crappy year for them in the Japanese market. Brave was poorly received.

For a moment there I thought, "Wow, I didn't think Sengoku Collection was that popular." But then I saw how many copies it sold. Ouch.

Well, I doubt they understood that Scottish charm that English speakers not from Great Britain would enjoy. Beyond that, the movie just isn't that interesting.

SAO over 30k. Haters will always hate, but can't do anything about it.

It's the holidays and New Year's. Good time for family shows.

Not as good yet not really that bad. Usually mainstream Japanese buy the DVD versions, while collectors get the Blurays, for a sum of around 30k-40k. But I don't think there's a Brave DVD J-version; instead it's sold only as a Bluray+DVD set which is more expensive. So not bad for a more expensive package, and since it's only been a month, it may get to 30k yet (unlike anime, Hollywood releases tend to have longer tails in sales).

I know that I've bought garbage entertainment before. I'm just not buying the SAO piece of garbage.
I'll be contributing to the sales numbers of a couple of new titles being released this week, plus a BD from a series from last season... Only two discs next week.

Decent numbers for Beserk considering it's probably the most graphic and mature show on that sales chart.
I think the real deal breaker for these Beserk movies is going to come from international sales. If they can rake them in from worldwide DVD/BD sales, then fingers crossed we might see a continuation with more of Beserk being animated and adapted in this movie format.

The numbers for Berserk are pretty terrible when you consider its a movie... movies always sell far better than TV series (like Strike Witches movie recently moved 40k vs 10k for its TV series, and K-On moved 150k vs 40k for its tv series). Generally movies move about 4 times as many copies, due to better price than a TV series and more accessible since you don't have to buy more than one to see the whole story... so 5-6k for a movie pretty bad. Thats Redline level which was considered a critical flop sales wise in Japan, though admittedly Berserk took no where near the budget Redline did.

Looks like an abysmal week for anime on BD in Japan.
