Tell me, if they were to make an anime of the series, do you think it would be better than Elfen Lied or Gantz, or worse?
1. Storywise 2. Quality wise 3. Violence wise 4. Sex wise As far as storywise, I think it would do better than Gantz but worse than Elfen Lied. In Gantz and BR, people are fighting to stay alive, and they'll do it by ANY means necessary. I like the dark and cruel theme behind Elfen Lied. An experiment gone haywire. Quality wise. I think BR would look better because of the more "realistic" pictures of the manga. Heads seem to come off a little too easy in Elfen Lied, and in Gantz, monsters look a little "computerized". As far as sex goes, Gantz would probably step over BR. It's kinda better in the fact you don't see too much genitals. And for violence, it's not every Anime where you see brains and intestines. You think they'd actually do it? I took your suggestion into consideration and acted on it, Joel. Thanks! Last edited by fighterholic on Mon Mar 06, 2006 2:01 am; edited 3 times in total |

Tony K. has a little smart ass in him. Thats always good. And fighterholic, I think you should seperate sex and violence.
I don't think it would out-shine Elfen Lied, but Gantz is another story. Story and quality speaking, Gantz sucks. Because of the CG, the majority of the animation looks awkward. Don't get me wrong, I love Gantz, but the anime story, as a whole, can be beaten by just about anything. Violence and sex.... Are you talking about if the manga were to be converted into an anime? Or would be it be an original story? If it's an original story, then who the hell knows. But the manga probably would. There are many scenes of violence in the manga like at the beginning of the game when spoiler[Shuya's best friend gets a magnum to the mouth]. Then there are also graphic scenes of of people getting shot in the face. Although Gantz had a lot of "kills", they were not that detailed, just blood gushed out if I remember correctly. Someone gets shot in the head and their head explodes with cool-Aid flying everywhere. If the Battle Royale anime where to be as detailed as the manga, graphically violence is always considered more violent than just violence... does that make sense? For example, someones head can be shot and explode with a lot of blood coming out, or, someones head can get shot with a hole being made in the middle of the face while they bleed and yell and teeth are falling out and they start vomitting and then the brain fal out and the torso falls. In the end they end up dead, just more graphic. Oh and Battle Royale uses more realistic weapons which won't completely blow off limbs with one shot. The sex part... If Hardcore Souma's sex scene flashbacks are detailed, then yes there will be more sex in Battle Royale than in Elfen Lied and Gantz. There are a couple of more characters that are shown having sex in the manga, but none are as graphic as Soumas. But the story and animation is so good in Elfen Lied, I don't think Battle Royale would be able to maintain that for a 26+ episode series. 15 manga volumes is a hell of a lot of episodes. A cheap, quick original story would probably have better animation, but not a 26er.
I hope they do it. The only other anime I've seen with brains and intestines has been Fist Of The North Star. Akira had a little bit of guts. I hate to sound like one of those people, but I hope "they stay true to the manga". On another note, why would you want to leave California? The only reason i can see if because living here is so expensive and it would be difficult to start/support a family. I'm only 19 and going to college and it's expensive as hell. |

I think there unlikely to make an anime, mainly becos the manga was based on a live action film, so theyve allready done the screen thing.

The manga is not based on the movie because some parts of the story had been changed in the movie that aren't in the manga like Japan not being a police state.

I just feel that my place is not here in the US and that it is in Japan, where I spent the last nine years. However, I feel to be successful in later life, it would be a good idea to finish college, so I'm going to be here for a while longer. spoiler[I also live at home.] |

I haven't seen the movie because it is banned here in the U.S. and I dial-up. I've tried to get friends to download it, but they never have. I don't think the live-action is based off of the manga though. I dunno, just something inside me tells me otherwise. Probably cause I don't see how such a long manga can be fit into a 2 hour, i suppose, movie.
Initial D is a Manga, TV series, and Live-Action Movie, so I don't see a reason why Battle Royale wouldn't be turned into an anime. Well actually the only reason would be that no one wants to make it becuase they don't believe they'll make much, or any profit from it. |

Both the manga and the movie were based on a book. I wouldn't be too surprised to see the book turned into an anime too. |

Battle royale is done and dusted now. It was made into a hit movie and thats that. No point in the anime since it will be stale and all and fanbases will be divided. Since for such horrific animes the fanbase is always limited since it can't be marketed towards every body so they need pretty much every body into such stuff watching it. nahhhh it just won't work. You can make a movie out of an anime. But not the other way round.............but hey an anime on it will be welcomed........i love the story and i 'ill try getting hold of the moive. Is it relasaed out side Japan yet.
Also i think i read Battle Royale 2 some where in some forums live action section. Is there a sequel or a rumour. |

The Battle Royale movie ain't banned in the US. Toei, the company behind the movie, just haven't made an agreement with an American distributor for a release. I've discussed the posibility for a BR anime with other people and it's a common opinion that there's few chances for it, at least in the nearest future. The popularity of BR reached it's peak a few years back and if someone (Toei Animation should be a good candidate) wanted to make an anime they'd probably done so already I believe. There's been no plans as far as I know. |

(COUGH) Animatrix (Cough). I can't see a difference between making an anime out of a video game or movie. I also heard of a Battle Royale 2, but again I haven't seen it. Did a google search and it sites show up on part 2.
You sound like you've been reading this page. So from what I understand it's not "banned", but the asking price in order to distribute the movie is more than 1 million dollars becasue America is seen as the "cash cow". Everyone, Blockbuster and Hollywood Video, had told me it was banned in the US so they didn't have it on their shelves. Thank you for lettimg me know that it A'INT, your words not mine, so now I know for myself. |

Do we really need an anime of BR. Like I found the the 2 movies where more than enough. I am surpised that Terentino did not deside to bring that one over to the west like he did with Hero.

(cough) Laws of probability (cough) how many times have the animatirix route been taken as opposed to the film out of an anime. Which has a greater probability.....(cough, cough, cough) well only joking with the coughs, but hey there is possiblity for just about anything but we can only base our claims on probability.......hey there was a reason why we were taught that stupid chapter in maths. |

Are you okay? You sound a little sick. Actually that chapter in math was just taught to make our life myserable. No other reason. But I know what you mean, and you're right. Just about no Live-Actions have been turned into Animes. Hell, it even took me a while to remember about the Animatrix. Nothing else came to mind. I'm almost possitive that it might occur more in Japan though. You know, those not-so-good animes that don't get licensed. |

True, there ARE definite differences between the film and the manga, but that doesn't mean the manga isn't based on the film. As for Japan not being a police state, I cant believe the general public would stand for something like the BR Act if it wasn't. It might not be MENTIONED that its a police state, but that doesn't mean it isn't.
Just because of the gore? A lot of American films are just as gory. If its to do with the message, then I worry about the American administration even more than I did already (and that's not easy either). As for not being able to watch it, I'm sure you could download it >.<
You'd be right - the mangas based off the live action
It cant. They put loads of extra back-story and stuff in the manga that wasn't in the film. Much more detailed. |
