hey everyone, im new to the forums and fairly new to anime so i need some help picking some good anime with lots of plot twists, violence/gore with a good story. So far I've seen Berserk, scryed, and evangelion. Out of those I like Evangelion the most because its starting to get really wierd and i like that.
Berserk is a close second because of all the vilolence.
Anyways would any of these fit my tastes
Rahxephon, Noir, The vision of Escaflowne, Elfin Lied?
any other suggestion?[/i]

Rahxephon - Similiar to Evangelion, but has a stronger character cast. Lots of mecha fights and violence. Something to look into if you enjoyed Evangelion.
Elfen Lied - This is full of bloody violence nudity and lolicon. Story is fluent and very well organized. Character cast is strong and the animation is superior. You would enjoy this if you have a warped mind or just love violent shows.

Surely, that could not have been all that you have seen, but if it is...
Akira (although its a movie and not a series) - Very nice story. Has a fairly moderate amount of violence, though not gorey. Revolves more around the story (gotta see the classics you know).
Ninja Scroll (yet another movie) - Another one of the classic movies out there.
Elfen Lied - Would be fine. I've heard great things about it, though I haven't bothered to watch it yet (it's on my to do list.)
Noir - Good from the get go, but the action kind of slows down around the middle. Kind of reels you in from the first episode, but after that it leaves an impression that all the other episodes will be as good as the first (regrefully, they don't get as good until about half way through.) Although its a story about assasins, the violence (in my opinion) is actually quite mild (the shoot and down kind of thing.)
Bleach - And of course, you can try the ever popular Bleach. Alot say its better than Naruto (might have to agree because of all the Naruto fillers.) Lots of fights and stuff, your typical shounen anime. (Did I mention less flashbacks than Naruto?)

I always seem to recommend Texhnolyze in posts like this one...it's one of the weirdest, most confusing, and violent animes I've seen (I tend to go for cute most of the time)...in terms of unexpected plot twists, killing (of minor and major characters), other acts of cruelty and violence, and sheer gloominess and unearthliness of setting, Texhnolyze is hard to beat.

Another show in the same vein as Eva is Gasraki, which mixes earth-bound mecha action with Japanese mysticism, along with some seriously deranged and manipulative characters. I like the fact that the mechas aren't just fantasy scifi models, but are based more in how they might really be built, with lots of technobabble about hydraulic pressure, bearing stress, etc.
For head-games plot twists, Paranoia Agent comes to mind. A skater with a bent golden bat is roaming Tokyo, clobbering people who are on the edge of emotional breakdown... or are they attacking themselves? The violence isn't the main event as much as the effects of the violence on the victims and the people who surround them, but director Satoshi Kon pulls no punches.
For just outright weird, try Boogiepop Phantom. An older title, Boogiepop I think holds the record for audience bewilderment, largely due to a non-linear storyline. A pillar of light; a girl fighting supernatural powers; various people affected by those powers; hidden identities... is this the phantom? Well worth looking for.
If it's blood you want, it's blood you'll get with Peacemaker. A very well done mix of samurai action, coming of age drama, a bit of history, and some comic relief. Think Ruroni Kenshin as a boy, joining the Shinsengumi instead of the Imperialists. I didn't care for some magic-using ninja side plots, but the main story grabs you up and hustles you along to a conclusion that can only be described as bloody, bloody, and warped.
