So they cancelled Reborn and replaced it with Reborn? Interesting...nice to hear that SJA is going simultaneous though.

A great move, still waiting for the service to reach beyond the States (and Canada?), even if that leaves a lot of English speakers hanging dry and I probably wouldn't pay anyway. >_>

One exception that I may pay for, day one translations for Assassination Classroom. >_> Not sure about Beel though, can we really be that excited for a translation that we have open arms to censoring stuff...

I would perfer it if it were completely uncernsored and they just put it in a plastic wrapping or something and went with Joke advertising, though if that dosn't work, I'm fine with the alternative if all they do is slap a diaper on beel.

simultaneous or not. People will find other reasons to pirate it.
The new complain will be the
1. fansubs have better translation.
2. Scan has better picture quality.
3. All companies are evil, we don't want to pay them.

Points 1 and 3 are probably gonna come up alot but point 2 is pretty much bull. There are comparisons out there proving Viz's digital scans are above even what Mangastream has in terms of picture quality and they definently look cleaner.

As I figured, they're going to use the upcoming 2 weeks SJ is off in Japan to catch up. I was fine with Alpha already, this is just icing on the cake.

Both of those are crap, especially the picture quality one, since Viz gets their copy straight from Shueisha, instead of having to clean up newsprint. (Edit: as pointed out above by Divineking)
The problem with always be the scans ending up on the internet almost a week before the Japanese sale date. It's something that affects Japan too and Viz can't fix that.

I rather buy Shonen Jump in a physical format but those days are long gone I bet they will be adding Hungry Joker to the line up in good time.

Can you please add:
4. No treat of censorship of any kind
5. Not available worldwide.
In this case, SJA only available in USA and Canada and with a clear statement of no plan to expand to other countries.
As for this point, can you USA citizens write 1000 times "USA ("America") is not the entire world" and or "Not all inhabitants of this planet are in USA/"America"/North America ---screw Mexico because that country while being in NA, for commercial purposes is not in NA ---
Thanks.
While 2 is most likely not arguable (better scan with official source vs fan groups), 3 is debatable because almost all companies are money first, money second and money third and there are hardly any companies left that have at least a minimum of respect their costumers, I dunno how people can argue against point 1, is undeniable that "fansubs" ---its actually scanlations" in the case of translating manga scans--- are more accurate and not localized quasi-translstions, if you like them or dont mind them its another thing, that fan translations are more accurate and true to the original meaning its fact.
For those not interested much in immersing and understand japanese culture its true too that they could care less about the localized translations.
Going back to point 3, its not that MOST of scanlations readers dont want to pay but that they CANNOT because again refer to (my)point 5.
Its been concluded by research time and time again that is a distribution/availability issue not a I want anything free issue, and that those "bad fans" that would not pay a cent under any circumstances are those that dont care enough to buy even if they could.
I you like to educate yourself more and have better arguments to to support what you point out and criticize then go read the independent objective studies around the world that are recently concluding "pirates" spend more money "if they have the availability issue covered (i.e, available in their territory or dont encounter the infamous not available in your country for online access)" that you "only legal" fans do, which is only logical if you stop and think that one of the most simple reasons is that only legal fans have limited exposure to media and cannot buy what they dont know about or have no idea while others are exposed to a wider range of media and can buy more plus they know very well what they want to consume --at the very least a lot less likely to be disappointed--.
As for the "you are not entitled to anything" counter argument, it amazes me that the entertainment media industries are so unhappy to have a LOT OF FANS WORLDWIDE and that instead of trying to capitalize them and have a bigger customer base they rather criminalize them and hunt them down.
If I were a creator I would be extremely happy that my work captures the hearts and/or attention of so many people worldwide, and instead of trying to take them to jail I would be trying to make my works available to them for so called "legal" access and purchase and at reasonable prices too, not forgetting viable options for those that cannot pay money upfront, because I would never discriminate and treat like repugnant animals those with no monetary means to buy at all or whenever I release something....of course that would be a wet dream, a utopia and my ideal would be crushed by my publisher most likely...unless many others had the same ideal and would try to fight to change things,,,innovate...
Unfortunately, its not like I do not understand why the industry that revolves around anime/manga/hentai does not want to make available their works worldwide (see how licensed hentai in the USA is almost dead, save for some hentai manga I think), as low profile as it is, its highly criticized due to the narrow minded people in the world that dont understand the word fiction.

My point is that the description of that new series reads exactly like Reborn.

I read a one-shot manga just like this, except the two love interests were both from rival gangs; Romeo & Juliet essentially. I wonder if this is the same author?

wow I really suck at catching this stuff...
I guess I never really paid attention to the summary so any comparsons to reborn are completely moot to me since the series's couldn't be anymore different...unless of course Raku suddenly gains super powers and starts acting more badass than he really is...

As someone who doesn't live in the USA, I think this is a good step and shows that SJA isn't doing bad. Hopefully they can take the next step and open SJA elsewhere.
As for the other 2 arguments. Those are among the reasons why I HATE weaboos.

And don't forget the fact that Viz Media couldn't give a rat's ass about the European market when it comes to digital releases! (In fact, when asked time and time again about why they won't do a European version of SJA, they always say it's because they only have the North American rights which is stupid considering all the other English language publishers can get worldwide English-language rights without any problems at all, but then again, it could be Shueisha and Shogakukan being idiotic morons who don't understand the European market at all unlike the likes of Square Enix and Kodansha who get it when it comes to digital releases in English)
