I find this to be both good and hilarious. On the one hand, the series is already pretty successful in Japan at the moment so at least it won't get axed like the other new series. On the other hand I guess it shows that Viz has finally realized action series aren't really the in-thing with Shonen Jump these days.
Wonder how long/hope for it'll take for Assassination Classroom to get added. Also wonder how their gonna go about catching up.

Guess with the confirmation that it'll be in jump magazine for a while(?) They're willing to take a chance with this sort of series...interesting.
Guess theres hope for Assasinaton classroom....
And beelzebub dammit! Just bring the manga over her in some format or another!! Perferibly physical volumes!

...crap, you got me. Guess I'm getting a subscription now.
One question, though, since I'm a little confused. It's already up to 4 volumes in Japan--- is Shonen Jump Alpha going to be starting at the beginning, or with a more current serialization?
I ask because I'm pretty sure they've "jumped up to current" before, which might be all fine and good for people who are reading scanlations, but isn't that great for those of us who don't read them. :/

Interesting that they're going to go with a romantic comedy this time around. I see that it's not too much of a risk given how only 50-51 chapters are out at the moment, though with Strawberry 100%'s axing I imagined that they were no longer interested in rom-coms, Rosario + Vampire notwithstanding. In fact, I don't think Viz has released a new series of its type since Rosario.
Hopefully they'll follow suit with Assassination Classroom, and I daresay one of the longer running popular Shonen Jump titles that I'm beginning to suspect that Viz thinks are too risky to put out, like Sket Dance, Medaka Box or Beelzebub.

Every series they've run is fully available up to their current points as a mix of digital volume releases and the digital magazine.

Yeah, they've jumped up to current with Blue Exorcist (which they handled by releasing Volume 8 digitally a month or two before it was available in stores) and with Toriko (which they basically did by skipping over a lot of stuff and letting the collected volumes gradually catch up to where SJA is now). Pretty sure they'll go the Toriko route here.

Shonen Jump Alpha format is more like the Shonen Jump than the old US Shonen Jump magazine. New series every few months to replace the dropped series. this is what you guys wanted.

From what I've seen, it is.
I'm sad to say that because I loved the unique feel of Doubt Arts and thought it was a tremendous shame it never got to be finished.
It seems like there's a glut of rom-coms on the manga and anime market these days, and while some of them are wonderful, I'm starting to get sick of the overload.

Unoriginal harem rom-com. I bet it gets 6 months , tops, before they move it out of the line-up.

It won't. Unless they do an original story.
