Pretty cute for a short. Couldn't really understand it but it seems to be based upon the main girl's lack of depth perception due to the bandage covering her right eye. Not surprising that KyoAni is putting out a lot more promo material for this than their usual stuff since this isn't really an established property, just a light novel entry for one of their contests a couple of years ago that they went and published.

Shame I don't understand Japanese. Maybe someone will put up a subbed version somewhere. From what I could tell, it looked cute and potentially funny, and so my interest in the show has gone up a bit, and this was already one of the shows I was already looking forward to since its premise sounded interesting.

Eyepatch, dark blue hair, and short hair?

I love this girl already. I just hope she isn't a total Manic Pixie Dream Girl.

Err...asking that question makes me wonder if you've grasped the concept behind this show.

Well, the current description on ANN doesn't exactly describe just what Chuunibyou is, so it's not surprising.

To Chagen46: Apparently, she has delusions of grandeur and believes she has special powers and is destined to save the world, or something like that (in this anime, this is apparently an actual disease that effects people's minds, which the main guy used to have), so I'm guessing she might be quite a "Manic Pixie Dream Girl."

Err...Manic Pixie Dream Girl is a pretty specific character type, that doesn't actually show up very often.

Also, you really aren't grasping the concept.

Well, I've never heard the term Manic Pixie Dream Girl before, so I guess I misunderstood what it was referring to.

But how have I misunderstood the concept? Here's the description of the show from crunchyroll: "Yuuta previously suffered from chuunibyou, or "8th grade sickness," a disorder where the patient believes they have superpowers and pretends to save the world. During his final year of middle school, he focused on studying and was cured. Now in his first year of high school, he finds himself entered into a contract with Rikka, and infected chuunibyou patient. How will the former patient and infected patient co-exist?"

Is that inaccurate? I hope not, because it actually sounds pretty cool.

"Chuunibyou" isn't an actual disease.

Even in the show.

Where are you getting that info from? That disappoints me slightly, but I'm still interested in the show.

EDIT: Just found out that chuunibyou is actually a term used in real life to describe certain types of behavior, not a term coined by the show, which I had previously believed. Ah, so I see what you mean now. I liked the idea that essentially believing you were an anime hero was an actual mental disorder, but oh well. The show still looks interesting.

I understand the concept behind the show. I'm just saying that MPDGs tend to be rather shallow characters.

No shit. She's not Manic Pixie Dream Girl, the point is that you calling her that demonstrates a lack of comprehension of both this show and what a MPDG is.
