I didn't know where to post this but my laptop takes for-ever to load the ANN website. I first noticed this after Fuccons week ended and the original background came back on. I seriously have to wait more than 30 seconds for each page and then I try other sites to see if it's just my cpu and other sites load fast. WTF! Now I spend my free time on MY SPACE so I havn't been able to keep up with the forums cause it takes for ever and I get pissed off so I go on other sites. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem or maybe... I have no idea what it can be.
I have to admit I use Dial-Up, Cause it's free thats why, and I didn't have this problem before Fuccons week. Any changes been made to the ANN pages that make it so that we must download more in every page? |

I don't really think it has anything to do with skins. ANN's site always loads faster than any other (site) on my slow dial-up computer.
You might receive better help in the Bugs & Technical Questions forum. |

Clear you cache, if you haven't done it already. The Fuccons skin wasn't any different then the normal skin, just brighter.

I'm not on dial-up, I'm on a very fat broadband line. Yet, even I have trouble loading ANN's pages recently -- although it varies a bit depending on time of day.
I had been assuming that this was due to ANN's servers being overloaded at those times, since they coincide with North American heavy-load periods. However, I ran a tracert, and I can see that there are pretty big latency times even in off-hours, and that the problem appears to be in the general vicinity (netwise) of ANN's servers - specifically at the Level3 servers in Dallas. It seems to me that this is not the first time that I've experienced bad linkage to ANN, and that this might be an issue that ANN ought to address with its hosting provider. It also seems to me that this thread ought to be moved to the Bugs and Technical Issues forum. - abunai |

And here I was thinking I was the only one having to wait for pages to load. But at home, I've compared my laptop connection to dial-up, and strangely enough, dial-up seems faster. Go figure. This has been going on for me since before Fucoons week, and I wonder if it'll ever get faster. I'm positive it's not just my computer, because DeviantArt images still load quickly. I'm having a much easier time using ANN on my school's computers, because they have some sort of a magical connection that goes gigs per second instead of kps.

I wasn't having any issue until today, but yeah, all day today now ANN has been incredibly slow. Sometimes it just comes up with a message saying I couldn't contact the server.

After being away for a while, I still rather be here than on My Space, I decided to try this site again and it loaded quick. After Fuccons I also noticed the banner changed to a CHRISTmas, OOPS my bad I mean "Holiday", theme with the elf girls wearing a santa hat and now the original is back and it's back to normal. The pages load pretty fast, even on my crappy... yet free, dial-up connection.
So was it something with the banners/theme ANN? |

the site takes FOREVER to load pages and navigate now. when im browsing in firefox using a desktop PC that is. when i use my apple laptop and still browsing with firefox things are better, but its weird! anybody ever find out what's up?
i doubt it was the Fuccons skin, especially since it was mentioned above that the skins weren't any different than the normal ones. Plus, i don't remember it being slow during fuccons week. what happened with that? anybody buy the DVD? |

It depends on what extenstions your are running. I took a handful of them off and pages load alittle faster. It also depnds on what your running in the background also. I use AdBlock, so that takes a few seconds off. The front page loads from 30 seconds to a minute and half (peak hours) for me. It been like that for a couple of months now. As far as I can see, nothing is wrong. |

mine is running faster now I've noticed. A lot better. But the long page load time going on for a while stunk.
still don't think it was caused or initiated by the Fuccons skin.... |
