Though I haven't seen it, from the official trailer and descriptions I was able to find it sounded intriguing. The animation was sweet, not to mention very very fluid. It also sort of reminded me of Blue Submarine No.6, probably because it involves one ship facing ridiculous odds in trying to fight the enemy. I even got a Xenosaga: Episode 1 vibe from the show (Compare character names, the clothes and some of the sequences). The only negative things I could find wrong with the show is the bland name and the "reality" storyline (I haven't seen the show yet). First off, total media access doesn't happen in the military because then the enemy would know important info . . . OOPS THAT HAPPENS IN THE SHOW!!!

spoiler[At that point, the ship and crew are not formally part of any military organization. If I recall correctly, they somehow defected and bought the ship using money gained from their arrangement with the television station.]

Because, basically, they are. But that wouldn't have even been possible if they hadn't pretty much sold themselves to the TV station.

Since I've seen the whole thing already, and planning to also buy it in R1, I'll just say that the first 4 episodes is not where the show shines. In a way the lukewarmness of it is difficult to swallow; the show is not smooth. But given the theme it is actually rather well fitting. What is the theme? KOTOKO's ending song lyrics gives it away, but the show goes a bit further once you finish it.
Though I can see how it could be kind of offensive for sci-fi fans who don't have a taste for a "chunky" spaceship short story. |

I just watched this volume earlier today. I agree with Key in that it does have a lot of potential. Sure, it doesn't have an "Elfen Lied" type opening; this show is more cerebral. It reminds me a lot of Crest/Banner of the Stars. Of course, at this point, it is nowhere near the calibur of Crest/Banner.
Still, I like this and I'm looking forward to seeing more. I am bummed by the fact it's only 13 eps long. |

I've seen about seven or so episodes, and I really like. It's got an interesting premise, and seems to use it well. It's so far more interesting than the usual Science fiction anime. I've been meaning to finih it.

This show is cool, something of a throwback to classic space opera titles with a little Space BattleShip Yamato vibe thrown in mixed in with the concept of total media access... the space ship combat is somewhat sterile compared to Yamato and Capt Herlock, pushing a button and computer displays don't convey excitement as much as a full broadside destroying a space ship.
