Anyone else here ever see Hajime no Ippo (Fighting Spirit in America)?

It's seriously one of the best anime titles I've seen and I just blindly jumped into it (DVD purchases)... Boy am I glad I did.

I just wanted to help spread the word and the Ippo love.

I've heard so much hype about it for months now and really want to check it out. But being such a long series, I don't know if I should wait to see if Geneon will make box sets of any kind. However, Hajime no Ippo seems like one of those series that's just under the radar, which probably won't prompt them (Geneon) to do anything like that anytime soon. Eventually, I'll buy this, but I think I'll wait a little longer to see what happens.

It's good, but it's exaggerated. One of the worst things that gets to me in anime is when they over-dramatize things. And Hajime no Ippo over-dramatized all their boxing scenes.

The first 10 episodes were boring for me but the series picked up after that. I didn't bother to watch the two movies though.

Every sports-related anime is exaggerated to some degree.

With the 10 volume just released, this series is pretty much one of the top series of 05/06. I'm not sure if more people are checking this out, even non-boxing fan should definitely check this out. The fighting is very dramatic and the characters are very enduring. And the humor work prefectly without feeling forced.

Exactly. Prince of Tennis, Hoops Days and even Hikaru no Go with speedline.

well, most anime's in general are exaggerated to a degree....

however, back on the real topic, this is one of the few sports animes i have seen, and enjoyed. Aside from this, Eyeshield 21, and Princess Nine, however i have been wondering if there are any other good boxing series, because this kinda makes me want more boxing stuff.....

so is there any more boxing anime?

Two title comes to mind:
Ashita no Joe, which isn't license yet and the other is Human Crossing but the only openning segment to HC was about boxing, the others weren't.
