Shrug. It's up to you whether you want to believe what I wrote or not. But, still, I think most adults are capable of separating fiction from reality. |

Thats not the point. The point is you tried to use one board of a minor 'chan that I'd never even heard of as a way of claiming that "everyone" who has ever used "WAIFU" takes it 100% seriously. You also have explicitly stated that virtually murdering people is fine, while virtually "dating" them is not. You have in the past publicly displayed preferences for fetishes that are widely considered quite strange, while now condemning people who like ones you don't like. You have never played a Visual Novel, you have no idea what variety exists. There are VNs that are all porn. There are VNs that have no porn. There are VNs all about romance. There are VNs with no romance. VNs are nothing more than a medium, like books, or anime, or Live-Action TV. Any sort of story can be told via VN, and they even open up some possibilities that are hard to tell in other formats. |

Right, I've never played a VN. I guess I must've imagined playing Wanko To Kurasou, Saya no Uta, and Fate/Stay Night. As shocking as it seems, I actually do play VNs. |

Chagen and Fencedude, this is your final warning.
If I see you two derail another thread with this same exact argument, I'm banning the both of you for at least a month. I don't care who started it. If you two just cannot resist eachother, can't help but have the same stupid argument over and over again, you're out. Stop antagonizing eachother. It's enough already, you've been irritating everyone around here for months, and I've finally had enough. |

Atmosphere means nothing without emotional investment, I have no emotional investment when the story doesn't provide it for me. I'm sorry though, but when your series primary antagonist starts throwing missiles at people like rocks, your series has jumped the shark. |

Yeah, I'm so over wanting you to explain your views. You are so not worth the time. |

This is again why another series silent hill 1-3 are the best in their franchise as well... they just knew how to freak you the hell out. However they did it with with in the means by playing off your psyche, making you feel helpless, or even to point .. is any of this real or not? |

When did virtual-dating escapism become a synonym for visual novels? Because when I think of virtual-dating, dating-sims is what springs to mind since the use of "virtual" (as in "virtual reality") implies something of a simulation. Maybe we're clashing over a difference in terminology here (well, primarily). |

This is about as deep as I want to go into this debate anymore. Are you familiar with the pseudo science on time travel/theory known as the butterfly effect?? Just look it up if you want to know what that is, but on the subject at hand. Most adult visual novels/eroge use that method of what if based on the scenario you choose. Lets take steins;gate for example where said game is broken up into 8 different routes but only one canonical route "one that gives you a true ending". This is the one they choose animate in adaptations. Now say what if I wanted the series to end with okabe helping save moeka only or went back int time with suzuha, how vastly different do you think the outcome would be? They would still be good endings by this merit however well you can see where this heading. I really can't explain it any more clear than that.. take the same method and apply to visual novel like kanon and you can see where this going. |

Catherine sold well for Atlus and a good example of reaching older audiences. I wonder if Atlus would expand the franchise, start a new thing, or just have that one game. Market is there, but its very untapped. |

Crunchyroll has more on The World Ends With You countdown. Apparently, there was a leak revealing something about an iOS port of the game, but one of the co-translators of the original game posted on twitter implying there is more to the countdown than just that.
If this is actually a going to be a sequel to the game on a platform where I'd have a chance of playing it (such as the 3DS) I'll be very excited, as The World Ends With You was one of my favorite RPGs. |

I guess ift hat's how you feel, though I don't see how that's any different than Nemesis' rocket-launcher arm gun, or Alexia being a psychic pyromancer. The series has always been straddling the line of unrealistic and over the top, that's part of the campy charm people like. It's like complaining about the fanservice in Highschool Of The Dead. Maybe the franchise just isn't for you. |

Something with "campy charm" is not an atmospheric horror game. |

Funny enough, I was surprised to see Catherine featured in a fighting game tournament. That game can definitely bring the hype competitively, and as a single player experience it's really solid. I just wish they kept the difficulty balance the same as the Japanese version because Axis Mundi solo is cruel and unusual punishment. |
