Ah excellent!
A Blu Ray release might have usable English subs as well, and be playable in my own Blu Ray player, if I remember correctly.
Looking forward to this new product and the 30th Anniversary stuff coming out.
BOO to Harmony Gold who still keeps this franchise from it's US fans.

Bomber! Bomber!
I knew I had not seen the last of Nekki Basara
This should be fun. I can see Ozma going all fan boy at a Fire bomber concert. And of course some how Alto will wind up on stage.
Maybe we will get a new song?
LISTEN TO MY SONG!

Macross 7 was pretty popular in Japan, especially the music. Not sure what you mean about the "Known to be the best". It was the longest running Macross TV series, hands down. It was the first property that didn't make it to the US, but that wasn't due to a lack of popularity at all, it is a licensing issue.
There are more popular Macross properties, and there are less popular as well.

Come to think of it, you're right... it's nearly twice as long as Frontier in terms of hours of content. 50(2?) episodes of anime, a movie, several specials, four (?) OVA episodes, radio dramas (...I think)...
And there's more total Macross 7 music than all the other shows combined.

49 regular episodes and 3 additional "Extra" episodes. A set of extras known as "Macross 7 Plus", a short movie, and an additional 4 episode OVA makes it the longest of the entire franchise by a lot.
Frontier stands at 26 episodes, and 2 soon to be 3 full length movies.
The original show was 39 episodes, a movie, and "Flashback", which was welcome music and a look at the real ending of the movie that budget didn't permit at the time. I love the original Macross most of all, by the way.
The other shows were all OVA's around four episodes each, except Zero with Six.
Macross 7's music was, I think, even more popular in Japan than the original's, and that is saying a lot. Also, Macross 7 had 3 original characters from the original series, which I thought was pretty awesome. I know in some Western fan minds the show is the "Also Ran", but it's only because of the lack of a US release that this is so, in my opinion.
I do wish they'd do a show on what happened to the Megaroad 1, or 1st Macross Fleet. But I think they closed the book on that already.

Personally I think Kawamori is just too lazy to think of a really good solution... or doesn't feel like it.
