Really now? Oh if only the police spent more time preventing the rapist or would be murder, but no some random irrelevant person that uploads anime or manga gets arrested lol ah is government useless these days.

It may be hard to comprehend, but there are enough people in a government to do many different things at once. As much as we like to think of downloading as no big deal, can you fault a small company for going to the police over finding their products being ripped off online?

Also: Monitoring SHARE and logging is cheap and easy once you have the tools coded. I bet its very little difficulty for them to take the IPs and backtrace them.

PPS: SHARE is known to have been cracked by the gov't and monitored YEARS AGO. It's their own fault for knowingly uploading stuff to a compromised and monitored system.

The lower crime rate in Japan leaves the police with more resources for the small stuff.

After all, publishers pay taxes too, and this is a crime in Japan.

That said, I find it interesting that these reports of people being arrested in Japan are worthy of their own news articles (albeit in the daily brief), releases of new apps for streaming sites (CR's PS3 app & Funimation's new tablet app) are not.

I think the issue with these articles that they're short generic blurbs. What file sharing program? WillPlus? I can't even find it on google. What two other companies? Etc. I'm sure the source wasn't that informative but this definitely isn't either.
