Even though the original release was atrocious, I'm impress Square went back to the drawling board and took the time, money and effort to try to make this a better game. Not many companies would do that and just dump the game and just remade a new one.

Oh wow. I'd just assumed the game had died an ignoble death and everyone was just pretending it didn't ever exist.

That's still my plan going forward.

Their cutscene CG that has always been a joy to watch, is starting to look outdated.

No idea if it'll be any good this time around, but I'll give them credit for taking another crack at it.

If they are making it completely new... e.g. new story/world. Why the hell did they not call it something new to get away from the stigma of its predecessor.
That said, bad choice of narrator for that video, hardly gets my hopes up.

Yeah, thats their explanation for the new world maps. Is that a calamity happens and everyone is transported into the future.
AFAIK a majority of the combat, class, and other changes are in place already. The only major thing not in yet are the new maps.

While they are willing to release an early version of the game on the PC, I don't think they want to have a numbered game that doesn't appear on a game console (or maybe handheld). So they will effectively re-use the number for a new game if the PC release didn't pan out.
In other words, I think they see their main audience to be console gamers, not PC gamers.

Because they actually take responsibility for their launch rather than brushing it under the rug and pretending it never happened?
