Not really. It's not unusual for companies to wait a while before they license a series. Only 38 episodes have aired in Japan so far. One Piece is more popular that Naruto, and it was over 100 episodes long when it was licensed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think ADV has it, at least from what I remember from their panel at SakuraCon.

I thought they had only licensed the manga, but who knows, maybe they've also put an option on aquiring the anime rights within the next year or so. I wouldn't be surprised though to hear it's been licensed at AX or at the next BAAF. Only time will tell though.

Hmmm... maybe that's what I heard. The manga. I just remembered the ADV rep talking about how much of a headache Excel Saga was and something about how Naruto will be even worse, or something to that effect. My memory's a bit blurry on that.
But hey, AX is coming, maybe something will be announced.

Assuming Naruto is licensed now while fansubs are at episode 35, how long do you guys think it will take before the DVDs catch up to it (ep.35)?

Err, its 38 with AonE, and at least a year from announcement. The quickest I know to come out was .Hack, which was blitz on the US, and its still not all out with season one, even when season 2 is done with (okay series 2, but there is the season 1.5 with the few extra eps coming out now.)

What's AonE? I watch Toriyama's World's subs...
Anyway what I want to know is the likelihood of not being able to watch anymore Naruto until the licensed DVDs come out. Come to think of it, exactly how long is Naruto going to run? 100 episodes?

cyrax, can you PM me which group is subbing still subbing Inuyasha? is it good?
I don't really support that, but in a couple of months (aug. 21) I'll be going home where I won't be able to catch the new Inuyasha airing on CN on aug 24th.... So the internet maybe my only salvation. That or hope for CN to re-air it when I get back after six months...
BTW if this post violates the forum fansub rules, uh, I'm sorry then and mods can deleted.
