This is probably a dumb question. I was reading up a little bit on some Japanese history and ended up with this question.
1) Does the kyoto arc take place during the Satsuma Rebellion in 1877? 2) If it does, then is the Shishio character based on Saigo Takemori, the leader of that rebellion? Thank You!! |

Going thru my Kenshin, I see it is set six months after the rebellion by the time it is Kyoto. The Seinan War it is also known as. I believe that the characters of Shishio and Kenshin are the only two in Kenshin that aren't mostly baised on a real person and personality. There was a Saitou and Sanosuke, and most of the Shisengumi were really people too.

OK, since Saitou and Sano were real, is there a way to find out who Kenshin and Shishio were based on? I'm curious to know about them, and the person they are based on.
